Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi
Garibaldi Square is the hub of Parma. The civic center of the city was located here, as opposed to the religious center located a few hundred meters away and represented by Piazza Duomo. This square is also commonly called Piazza del Comune or Piazza Grande .
Basilica di Santa Maria della Steccata (Madonna della Steccata)
The elegant Renaissance building of Santa Maria della Steccata is the first church in Parma to be built with a central plan. Inside we will see one of the masterpieces of Francesco Mazzola, known as Parmigianino: the large arch above the main altar, frescoed between 1533 and 1539.

5.00This was a great way to get a guided self tour. We do like our waking tours but did not want to make a commitment on time. This was a perfect way to make sure we saw the sites and got some of history at our own pace and on our own time. We ended up buying 3 guides!
