Located in Dublin’s historic Liberties, Pearse Lyons Distillery, Dublin’s only boutique distillery, is a five-minute walk from The Guinness Storehouse. Nestled in the former Church of St.James, this distillery has a colourful history dating back to the 12 Century.

On tour of the distillery and surrounding graveyard, guests are introduced to the compelling characters from Dublin’s famous distilling and brewing district. This district, rich in culture and tradition, was once a place of booming industry known as The Golden Triangle.

The Pearse Lyons Distillery produces some of Ireland’s finest small batch Irish whiskies and celebrates the Irish tradition of storytelling on each guided tour. Guests enjoy a sensory experience as they are brought through the distilling process, before enjoying whiskey and gin tastings at our tasting bar.

Pearse Lyons Distillery

Our guided tours are hosted by our team of friendly storytellers, who will regale you with intriguing tales dating back to the 12th Century. Our distillery tours are small in size and in keeping with our boutique nature, so you can enjoy a more personal experience. • Each tour includes a guided tour of St. James' cemetery and takes in the history of the former St. James Church.  • Once inside our distillery, our storyteller will walk you through the distilling process from start to finish. Here visitors get to touch, taste and smell each step of distilling.  • Like all good whiskey tours, we save the best until last, with a special tasting of three signature Pearse Irish Whiskeys and our handcrafted Irish gin at our tasting bar.  • Visitors are then free to take a stroll through our gift shop and soak up the atmosphere in our adjoining bar, McCann's.

Introduction by Mr Lyons so engaging and the suprise. Brilliant to start with that Tour of graveyard and view of chapel so unusual Then the distillery itself houses INSIDE the chapel Amazing The process explained so clearly. The pot stills so nice to see. Place immaculate. The stainflass windows such a clever design. And THEN the tasting All wonderful Go here before any other distillery tour in the area 10/10 for the experience

This tour was not only about a distillery and also how one persons desire to run a distillery but also preserve a bit of the local culture came into fruition. The tour guide provided a great introduction and interesting history of the place So nice to find a unique and interesting location.

  • Great experience in a small group whiskey tasting.

It has been a long time coming but it was worth the wait,we were greated by the lovely Zara who was superb and gave us all the information while we waited for the tour to begin, our guide was Caitlynn who incidentally was from the U.S. and was a fabulous guide full of knowledge and little nuggets of golden information(she even braved the baltic weather conditions in a cardigan a Top Woman)...The tour its self brought us the magical dream that Dr.Pearse Lyons and his wife Deirdre created for the people of Ireland and the many Guests who visit our shores every year..As a Tour Guide I would highly recommend a visit to Pearse Lyons you wont be sorry,to The Pearse Lyons Team congratulations on a fabulous experience and some very high standard customer service I will definitely return again keep up the great work...

super nice experience, low season, sounded more like a private tour! only 3 of us in total! nice video presentation as a starter , nice story telling in the graveyard which well explained the reason why the founder chose this location. the guide was well prepared , just at times little emphatic (especially at the beginning, later on better), tasting was ok (I'm not personally familiar with whiskey, just wanted the experience and learn some history about the factory and delve into the experience and the whole process). Good job Mr Pearse! fascinating and interesting, can't give higher score because I wasn't fully amazed, probably because we felt a bit lonely in the tour, as explained above. So two different perspectives about the "private tour"

  • Funny, small scale

Had a nice tour with a bit of history. Small-scale distillery. With a 45-minute tour, the 10-minute video takes a lot of time. Nice product. At the whiskey tasting of three, a sample turned out to be gin. I think that's really special. If you want a gin tasting, you book it. But anyway, it was funny.

Amazing location actually inside an old church and grounds. Pleasant rather short tour and tasting was fun. Great one family owned Irish whiskey distillery with whiskies to sample. We bought a bottle of one at the Dublin airport duty free shop when we left.

Excellent visit to this small family business which has one of the production sites within the deconsecrated church of St. James in the Golden Triangle of Dublin's Liberties District. The guided tour includes both a short tour of the building and a detailed explanation of whiskey production methodology and how it differs from its Scottish cousin. At the end, we tasted some of the spirits, including the amazing rosemary-scented gin. Overall I can only recommend the visit given the particularity of the location in which the distillery is inserted.

Interesting history….brief but interesting. Beautifully executed distillery in a reclaimed historic building. The tour was just the right length….
