Garni
Garni Temple, the only surviving Hellenistic-style pagan temple in the former Soviet Union, is a breathtaking site rich in history. Built in the 1st century AD, this temple was dedicated to Mihr, the sun god. Perched atop a cliff overlooking the dramatic Azat River Gorge, it offers a perfect blend of ancient architecture and Armenia's stunning natural beauty. Visitors can also explore the remains of the royal palace complex, including Roman-style baths with intricate mosaics. Garni Temple is a fantastic spot for photography, especially during sunset when the temple glows with a golden hue. Located just a short drive from Yerevan, this iconic landmark is an ideal destination for travelers seeking to experience Armenia's history, culture, and breathtaking scenery all in one visit.
The Monastery of Geghard
Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a breathtaking historical and spiritual gem nestled in the Azat River Gorge, Armenia. This ancient monastery, partly carved into solid rock, dates back to the 4th century and offers a unique blend of natural beauty and architectural brilliance. The name "Geghard" translates to "the Monastery of the Spear," referencing the biblical relic once housed here—believed to be the spear that pierced Christ's side during the crucifixion. Surrounded by towering cliffs and lush greenery, the site exudes tranquility and mysticism. Visitors can explore its intricately carved chapels, observe stunning khachkars (cross-stones), and marvel at the harmony between nature and human craftsmanship. The serene atmosphere and historic significance make Geghard Monastery a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and those seeking a spiritual experience. Don't miss this enchanting journey into Armenia's rich cultural heritage!

The trip to Sevanavanck was one of the highlights of my journey. Already on the way to the monastery there is a beautiful view of Lake Sevan. Sevanavanck is a place of strength, beauty and inspiration. I highly recommend anyone who loves nature, history and silence. I want to go back there again and again.

We arrived to Armenia for a little time and had no clue what to do. Our relatives who live here recommended us happy holidays agency to book a short trip with them. We wanted to have a private tour instead of a big group. So it matched all our requirements. We can’t say how happy we were with their organisational skills. Everything was on time and we have been brought back to our hotel. Unfortunately we didn’t have had enough time to explore more this time, but definitely we will stay longer next time and hire them again. Thank you once again!

I recently did a tour to Garni and Geghard with Happy Holidays and am absolutely thrilled! Everything was perfect from the organization to the execution. Our driver was on time, the vehicle clean and comfortable. The tour guide was extremely competent, fluent and could tell many interesting stories and historical details about the sights. Garni Temple was impressive – the only surviving Hellenistic temple complex in Armenia, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Afterwards we went to the monastery of Geghard, which was half carved into the rock and radiates a very special, spiritual atmosphere. The acoustics in the church are fascinating, especially when traditional chants ring out. I would like to emphasize the warm hospitality: Along the way, we had the opportunity to taste Armenian lavash bread with a family in the village – a great, authentic experience. Overall, it was a perfectly organized excursion with a great mix of history, nature and culture. I can highly recommend this tour and the travel agency!

I had a fantastic time on the Garni, Geghard, and Lake Sevan tour with Happy Holidays. The team was incredibly professional, and our guide was captivating, sharing fascinating stories and historical insights throughout the trip. I initially considered doing the tour on my own, but I’m so glad I didn’t—Happy Holidays made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore Armenia’s beautiful landmarks!
