  Our Rioja wine tasting tour with Alby and Diego was one of the highlights of our trip to Spain. From the start, both guides made us feel completely at ease—like we were spending the day with friends or family rather than on a tour. That warmth and hospitality set the tone for an experience that was not only educational but also deeply personal and fun. Alby’s knowledge of Rioja is extraordinary. He shared the history of the region, explained the nuances of the grape varieties and terroir, and connected it all to the culture and people of Rioja in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. His passion is infectious, and it made every stop feel meaningful. Diego, though new and in training, was equally impressive. His energy, fresh perspective, and thoughtful contributions made the experience richer. Watching the dynamic between the two of them was a joy—they clearly enjoy what they do, and it showed in every detail. The wineries chosen were excellent and gave us a chance to see the diversity of Rioja—from traditional family-run producers to more modern approaches. Tasting outstanding wines against the backdrop of rolling vineyards was magical, but what made it truly special was the way Alby and Diego tied each glass to the broader story of the region. It never felt like “just another tasting”; instead, it felt like we were connecting with the essence of Rioja. What stood out most, however, was how comfortable and cared for we felt. The personal attention, thoughtful pacing, and genuine interest in making the day enjoyable made this tour unforgettable. By the end, we felt like we had not only discovered Rioja’s wines but also gained two new friends. If you are considering a wine tour from San Sebastián, this is the one. Exceptional knowledge, outstanding wines, and above all, a truly warm and welcoming experience. Highly recommended!

  Alby was wonderful and made our experience so enjoyable. He went out of his way to provide insights into local culture, cuisine, and of course wine! We toured two amazing wineries and had a lovely lunch in an historic Basque town. The day was perfect!!!

  Sony is an amazing guide! Super super fun tour with lots of wine samples and great food! My personal fav was the first winery!

  We had a really good time on our wine tour. Alby was the perfect host and driver. Recommended for sure. We visited two different wineyards, both with very interesting hosts and interesting stories / history. If you visit this area this activity is highly recommended.

  Everything started off great! Driver picked us up early, we picked up another passenger at a different hotel. Unbeknownst to us (other passenger included), we had no idea nor did it say in the itinerary that we were needing to take a 2-hr ride to begin our tastings. During the entire 2-hr drive there was zero commentary as to where we were and what we were looking at. Driver said “I will not talk at all as I need to concentrate on my driving” (fair enough). Upon arrival to first tour -we arrived approximately 20-min late (traffic not our driver’s fault). Upon heading to our 2nd tour (another 30-min drive) our driver got turned around. Finally made it to our 2nd winery tour. Very nice! After this tour, we sat for Pintxios and wine (was very nice!). But again-a 2hr commute back to the drop off. Upon arriving at our drop off location driver couldn’t figure out how to get us back to our hotel. My group was dropped off approx. 10/15 min walk from our hotel where we were picked up that morning. The wine tastings were great the few minutes to sit and eat lunch and chat was great! However, the time it took to get to and from, which was not disclosed was excessive. Maybe next time I’ll call the tour operator prior to booking to get a full itinerary.
