Chances of spotting a whale are exactly the same, whether you choose the morning or afternoon departure. Whales don't wear watches.
Same goes for the days of the week. Each day has an equal chance of sightings. Whales do not have calendars.
In the unlikely event that your departure is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, we do our best to contact you in the morning at the phone number you provide. We will reschedule your tour for another day if you like or provide you with a full refund—your choice.
Guests with wheelchairs can access the vessel and interior main deck. However, the exterior top deck and the restrooms are not ramp accessible.
No touching the whales. No feeding the whales. No petting the whales. This is whale watching. We watch with our eyes.

Overall, we still had a great time! There was quite a bit of Rainer the evening before which caused 8ft waves during our trip. We were told before we went out that depending on the how rough the water was once we got out of the bay that we may have to turn back. In the end we had to turn back due to the rough seas and large waves once we got out of the bay. However, the crew made the best of the situation and took us on a tour of the bay. Even though we didn’t make it out to see whales, we still saw dolphins and sea lions. Once they brought us back to dock, we received vouchers to use for a future trip since we weren’t able to complete the open ocean portion of the trip. Overall, it was a good time and appreciated them making the best of it. The crew members were very nice and we enjoyed the impromptu bay tour!

We were fortunate to see a mother and newborn calf making their way down to Baja as late arrivals. We know this because the on-board naturalist was wonderful-very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and engaged! That said, the views were rather underwhelming (several spouts and a few flukes), compared to whale watching I’ve experienced in Hawaii or off of Cape Cod. The likelihood of seeing multiple whales or getting close views may not be what people are expecting. This area is along the migration path and the animals are just not as densely populated as they would be at either end.

A basic whale watching tour. They try hard to find wild life. It is very hard to see because when a whale has a spout it comes and goes fast! They do good at using the clock system but if you are in one side of the boat versus the other- you will not see a whale. Lots of dolphins and seals. Cool military boats, planes and helicopters. We took Dramamine with us on issues. Didn’t see anyone sick either. Was smooth seas. It is cold. Even in an 80 degree day the water is cooler when in the ocean. Windy as well. Being a jacket, hat, sunglasses, or a blanket! You will not be sorry for extra layers. We had another tour booked but it was cancelled due to the fighter jet that crashed in the bay. Our expectations were already high. If bucket list. This will check the box. Tip: show up early and bring water and a snack.

The guide was informed and enthusiastic. He knew everything from the wildlife, to explaining the Navy activity in the area. The bartender was super friendly and made great drinks. Lovely trip and would recommend to anyone.

I expected to see more whales. I enjoyed the boat ride but the whale experience wasn’t good at all. Maybe this time of year was not a good choice.
