This tour, by Due South Travels, will give you great insight into all of the events, activities and processional traditions taking place during Lent, but specifically, the amazing, famous processions of Good Friday. We will walk part of the processional route before the procession comes through. This will provide an amazing opportunity to view and photograph the carpets that are painstakingly made throughout the night. They are beautiful and elaborate and take many hours to create, and are made with natural materials such as dyed sawdust, pine needles, and flower petals.

Although it was a very early start, I understand why now that I attended the tour. The parades go all night and early morning is the best time to see the carpets before the parades walk through them. The guide was friendly, knowledgable, and we learned so much about the customs and things taking place. It was crowded, loud, but so beautiful and the energy was in the air. This was one of the highlights of our trip since we saw so much about the Holy Week events before coming to Guatemala. I would recommend this tour if you're interested in the traditions and learning the history around these religious events.
