A great afternoon cycling trip to silk island from Phnom Penh via ferry.
It was a very eye opening experience to see traditional life in the countryside, spend time away from the city in a very enjoyable and relaxing way and get to ride your bike on the cycle track alongside the river, across the villages, temples and plantations. Throughout this cycling journey we also have a chance to connect with a local artisant when we visit the traditional silk weaving workshop and experience with friendly local people, kinds and enjoy tropical fruit and water.
A final, we cycle through silk island and learn more about religion in Cambodia when we visit Buddha temple and explore the island when the sun goes down and then we take a tuk tuk back to Phnom Penh.

This was the best trip ever! Riding the ferry across the river was its own adventure and getting to Silk Island was great. The bikes are excellent and riding through the island felt amazing. I am a curvy gal, and they accommodated me with a larger saddle on the bike. Quality of the bike was great and the tour guide provided quick instruction on the gears and signals he would use along the route. Silk Island gets its name from local tourists - and you will see lots of folks hard at work producing silk scarves on automated machines. You will hear the sounds of the machines before you get there. The scenery was unreal. It was so beautiful, lots of beautiful crops, gorgeous homes and tons of smiling faces. Towards the end of my ride it absolutely poured on us, but that didn't stop the fun. Be prepared during the rainy season to get a little wet. My guide grabbed a rain cover for me and we were on our way in no time. The rain made it all the more exciting. I was really grateful for the helmet visor that kept the rain (mostly) out of my face on the way back. This was an 11/10 experience as a solo rider.

This bike tour was an incredible adventure! The scenery was breathtaking, the guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and the organization was top-notch. The route was perfectly planned, and the included stops for refreshments were a delightful touch. The terrain is flat all the way, which made it pretty easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Wow, what can I say. This excursion was the highlight of my stay in Phnom Penh. My guide was punctual and extremely nice. I learned a lot from him. We stopped at a silk farm and it was great. I got so many souvenirs at a price that you can’t get silk back in the states. Plus learning about the silk making process was fun. I knew a lot went into the process but I have a better appreciation for it after experiencing this tour. The bike ride through the countryside was beautiful and humbling at the same time. Honestly, I think my favorite part of it all was seeing how happy the children were when they saw us. Watching the sunset go down as we finished up biking was also great. I couldn’t get enough pictures— one of the best sunsets I’ve experienced in a long time. The ride did start off hot so being hydrated and having sun protection is a must. They will include water but if you’re like me and sweat a lot, just do yourself a favor and drink as much as you can before hand. It did cool off dramatically as the sun went down.

I don't bike very frequently, so I was not expecting to have as much fun on this tour as I did, but it ended up being one of my favorite days in Cambodia! I cannot recommend this tour enough! Silk Island by bike is a GREAT day trip if you need something to do while in Phnom Penh.
