Our tour will start at the foot of the Eiffel tower. I will give you the key facts about this historic landmark such as its inception as the centerpiece at the world fair (Exposition Universelle) in 1889. I will take you back to that era and explain the atmosphere and mood taking into account the industrial advancement as well as the controversy, and horror over the look of the Tower by the art world. It was the dawn of a new time revealing the audacity of architecture. I will go over the Tower witnessing and being a major part of important events, both sumptuous and tragic, in France's history. You will see why Paris is a city of contrasts: light and dark, old and new, past and present. Paris is monumental , both due to its size but also its wealth of architectural heritage. What To Expect
Eiffel Tower
We will start our tour at the Eiffel Tower, I will be giving you a short overview of Gustave Eiffel. He was the engineer of the tower and of other famous monuments. The 30 years of his life were enriched by a history full of new developments. I will give you the key information on all of this. In this area there was once a massive and beautiful palace named Trocadero, you will find out more on this palace. From there we will walk towards the Champs de Mars Park, which is a green space surrounding the tower, at the same time you will learn about the events in this area.
Ecole Militaire
Southeast of the Champ De Mars sits a vast complex of majestic buildings known as the École Militaire. This institution was conceived around the middle of the 18th century. King Louis XV created a school to train young cadets of the royal army. The school would go on to count among its students some of the most decorated officers and military men in French history. One of the École Militaire’s most famous students was Napoléon Bonaparte, who attended in 1784. About 200 senior officers join it each year at the end of a particularly selective process. It is high military education.

5.00We had an unforgettable tour of Paris with Neda. We walked around the Eiffel Tower area and Neda showed us this corner of the capital with such enthusiasm and passion. In addition to being very well organized, she is an exceptional guide, knowing her subject very well, I can only recommend her.

5.00Mrs Neda is a lovely lady, patient and attentive to people's needs. She gave us a very good introduction and went quickly through all that we would experience during the tour. Her manners were fun and thorough at the same time. She answered in details to all the questions we had and gave us some suggestions on where we could find out more about he history of this fascinating city. I was on the tour with my mother who is 81, but Neda made sure to consider the pace of the walk, keeping her in mind. That was nice. It was a very interesting couple of hours and we felt very relaxed in the convivial atmosphere set up be the guide. Despite the cold (it snowed a bit a few hours later), we did not feel the time passing by. Would highly recommend this tour, especially if you are interested in finding out more about Paris and it's history.
