Our small group experience takes place in a big boat atmosphere! A maximum of 20 guests onboard allows our captain and crew the chance to focus on providing each guest with the very best experience. Our boat is really what sets us apart from other companies- we have a fast, fun and comfortable boat where everyone gets a cushioned seat, large open platform for viewing the whales and strong engines to help us maximize our time with the whales during your tour. Knowledgeable captains and crew who have worked among the whales for years will share whale facts and answer your questions. It's a great photo opportunity and most people who do it come back for more!

What To Expect

Aloha! Our small group whale watching tours are fun for all ages and a great opportunity to experience seeing the Humpback Whales for yourself! Check in at MALA BOAT RAMP a MINIMUM of 15 MINUTES PRIOR to your tour time. It will be a barefoot cruise! Easy to remove footwear like flip flops are best. We appreciate your patience throughout our boarding process which we allow an additional 15 minutes for. After a quick safety briefing, we will head out to find the most active whales. Our Captain and Crew will share their knowledge of the whales and are happy to answer any questions you may have. We do our best to provide the most personalized and exciting tours possible, but it's also important to realize that these amazing animals deserve a great amount of respect. We follow all regulations regarding distances, approach limits and make a big effort to avoid participating in any overcrowding of their space. Wear what's comfortable, make sure you have space on your camera and that the battery is charged and come out ready to have a good time!

best money spent outa 8 days in the islands was downtown in little kiosk. had available ride in 45 min. headed over. to maui harbor.

We were on the very last trip of whale season. It was beautiful and we did see whales and dolphins. The guides were very knowledgeable and fun. S I glad I went.

We had an amazing experience with Kerstin and Andrea. They were both wonderful and knowledgeable. We had one whale stay right by us and show off. We were all in awe of that amazing creature. Andrea got an amazing video of the whale underwater with our GoPro! This was my first time whale watching on a smaller boat and I am hooked. I will be back.

They had a marine biologist on board to educate us about humpback whales. Also the boat captain was able to put us on a group of whales for great photos.

WOW! We saw male whales fighting and females breaching for attention. It was amazing. The boat ride out was a bit bumpy for my old bones, but the experience was wonderful. Would recommend bringing drinks, nothing available on the boat. Our crew was knowledgable and provided lots of information on the ecosystem and whales.

I knew we were near the end of the season for whales in Hawaii but I booked this excursion anyway. I’ve always wanted to do a whale watching trip and it finally happened… and it was GREAT! I ended up choosing Makai Adventures and our tour leaders, Travis & Keao, were fantastic. We learned a lot and we saw a lot. Thank you for such a wonderful, memorable trip today!
