A professional English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years, they massacred and buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a museum and a reminder of darker days. Your guide will return you to your hotel or guesthouse.

We were very lucky to have Ran as our guide. He was able to bring his own personal experiences to deepen, what is already a very poignant history. The tour itself was very well organised, and we were in a small group with 6 others (who we didn't know before.) As you might expect, the tour to the Genocide Museum was emotional, with a lot of photos of the prisoners. To hear their stories and stand in the cells they were kept in was very hard but they need to be remembered. We saw the last 2 survivors of the prison, now aged 88 and 95. We have no reservations recommending this tour to you.

This was a very interesting, informative tour. Really enjoyed it, although it was sad and shocking too. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared his own experiences of the time. Would recommend for sure.

It was an eye opening experience to experience the Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields. Our guide was very very knowledgeable and gave us a very informative and tour. It was actually a class for me. I’m so glad I did this trip. I got some new insight. Sad history and glad I’m more educated on it now. This is a must do trip. The guide and driver are super helpful, a professional and friendly.

100% recommended for history lovers. The tour is very explicit and graphic, but history is told exactly as it happened.

One of the best experiences I ever had. Great tour guide and he was very knowledgable with history. You can tell how personal these events were to him and his family. Great guidance throughout both places.

This is a great way to get a real understanding of the Khmer Rouge regime. The tour was well planned and very detailed. Mr Seth was excellent, he spoke in lots of detail and on a very honest and personal level. We would highly recommend this tour.

Very informative tour, at a good price. The guide's descriptions of the tragic events at the Killing Fields were very sad, but also clear and insightful. I could have maybe spent a little bit longer at each site, but overall the half-day tour felt like it was about the right length.
