We enjoyed every minute of this extensive tour of the long history which the Jewish presence in Thessaloniki has. Efi’s extensive knowledge, which she shared with us made it a very worthwhile experience.

Efi was extremely knowledgeable and conducted the tour at a good pace. We walked around the centre of Thessaloniki and Efi pointed out things we would not have seen or known without the tour

Efi was both a guide and a historian. She is dedicated to the survival of history. Within 5 months the Nazis deported almost 60,000 Jews to Aushwitz, wiping out more than 90% of Jews who had lived in Greece and Macedonia since biblical times. Efi is also a compassionate story teller. No one could be a better guide and companion

Efi is very knowledgable but it was a 3/hour recitation of facts and figures and buildings. Disappointed in lack of color, storytelling, charm, or narrative of interesting unusual Jewish personalities - it was all about the business families whose names still grace the buildings. Very dry.

We highly recommend Efi for an excellent and complete Jewish tour of Thessaloniki! She is very knowledgeable and efficient. Efi has good relations with the synagogues and made appointments for us to visit them, in addition to the museum (which you need to pay extra to enter, 8 euro pp). Definitely book a tour with Efi. We enjoyed our time with her and learned a lot!

We recently enjoyed a 3 day private tour of Thessaloniki led by Efi, and can’t recommend her highly enough. Traveling with a group of 16 Jewish visitors, we focused on the city’s rich Jewish heritage—exploring the Monasteriotes Synagogue, the Jewish Museum, the Holocaust Memorial, the old railway station, the grand villas of former Jewish families, and even the historic Jewish quarter in nearby Veria. Efi’s knowledge was impeccable: she wove together the Jewish and wider history of each site with clarity, accuracy, and genuine passion. Beyond guiding us through the landmark sites, Efi helped take care of every detail: she helped arranged our comfortable minibus and individual headsets locally, secured great restaurant reservations, and offered thoughtful suggestions for our free time. Her flawless organisation, perfect English, and ever‑cheerful demeanour made everything run smoothly and our trip so enjoyable. If you’re looking for an engaging, professional, and warm‑hearted guide in Thessaloniki Efi is the one to choose.

The Jewish Thessaloniki Heritage Tour did not disappoint! Efi Kalampoukidou is a very knowledgeable private guide who took us through the history of the Thessaloniki Jewish Community as we visited the Monasteriotes Synagogue, the Yad Lezicaron Synagogue, the Jewish Museum and the Holocaust Memorial. Specifically, we loved learning about the rich cultural heritage, traditions and customs of the Thessaloniki Jews and viewing the collection of rare artifacts of historical significance. There is much to see and we highly recommend this tour.
