We will introduce you to the authentic traditional Namibian meals that are prepared and eaten on a daily basis. We will start to teach you how to make the staple food "pap" - a porridge made from Mahangu. During the preparations you will learn about farming and storage of Mahangu. In addition, we will prepare not only classic beef on a "braai" (=BBQ) but adventurous guest can try various delicacies such as goat head (known as "Smilie") or Mopane worms. For vegatarian guests we can prepare local spinach and Marula fruits. Most important you will meet Namibians in their homes and will be able to exchange stories over some local beers and traditional drinks. Don't miss this opportunity to cook and eat Namibia cuisine. Relaxed atmosphere, good food and gracious host. Don't be afraid to ask for some background music.

This experience was magical. It was far better than I expected. The space was clean and safe. The food was delicious which was a surprise as it included things I had never tried before. Our host was a delight. She was generous with her knowledge and introduced us to some locals who joined us and gave a short local language lesson with plenty of laughter. Would highly recommend.

The experience was truly a local gem. Miriam, our hostess, was a delight. Very warm and welcoming. She can sing, too! Food was very good-especially considering we ate items I had never had before! Our driver went out of his way to help make this experience a 5 star

She was very welcoming and a relaxed environment. Explained the dishes and sourcing for the food clearly. Made me comfortable to experience a new cultural experience for me. Delicious food, too, that I would never try in my country.

Authentic experience on the outskirts of the township. Despite request in advance as well as description online, a vegetarian option (so not chicken, fish or worms) was not really provided. We've learned about traditional dishes. Recooking is not possible because there was no recipe to take away and the instructor had prepared a lot and had also taken over a lot in the course or had not explained in detail. She was friendly, however, she has treated us in part very down from above. Drinks on site were cheap, but the free water was limited to one small bottle per person. Pick-up worked without any problems, but the journey took around 45 minutes on the way out, during which we did not know if we really arrived at our destination. Overall an exciting experience, but I wouldn't repeat it

Very good course. You learn to cook, of course, but also the tradizion behind the dishes and what the habits are like when eating. It is a very family atmosphere when cooking.

I had such a fantastic time at Iyaloo's Mahangu pap cooking class! It was incredibly authentic, and she made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming, like cooking and having lunch with a friend. I learned a lot and had the opportunity to cook and try mopane worms too. The cooking process was hands-on and ingredients were really fresh local produce. Make sure to try Iyaloo’s special sauces too! If you’re looking for a taste of local Namibian culture and cuisine, and enjoy trying something new, I highly recommend this class. Thanks, Iyaloo, for an unforgettable experience!
