Incredible experience - we ended up detouring to Sangeh monkey forest instead so that the kids could have more contact with monkeys and feed them - our tour guide was amazing and so friendly and accommodating, allowing us to stop for lunch etc

Rama was an amazing guide. We really enjoyed having him give us a tour and taking photos of us. He gave us a lot of history of the area. Thanks Rama!

Monkeys everywhere. They are little thieves so hide your belongings. I watched a female monkey chase a guy who ran screaming! lol If you are still and observant they leave you alone. They are monkeys and like to have fun, but harmless.

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud is one of those experiences that feels equal parts enchanting and adventurous. Walking through the lush jungle pathways surrounded by towering banyan trees, moss-covered statues, and ancient temples truly feels like stepping into another world. Of course, the main stars are the mischievous monkeys! They roam freely and aren’t shy about getting close. It’s fun to watch their playful antics, but it’s best to keep your belongings tucked away—anything from sunglasses to snacks can be fair game for these curious little residents. What I loved most is how the sanctuary blends culture, nature, and wildlife so beautifully. The staff are attentive, making sure both visitors and monkeys are safe. Tips: Don’t carry food in your hands or bags. Keep a respectful distance, and avoid making direct eye contact with the monkeys. Go early in the morning for fewer crowds and a calmer atmosphere. Overall, it’s a must-visit in Ubud—equal parts serene, cultural, and just the right amount of wild.

I took a solo trip to the monkey forest. I had a guide Rama, who was the sweetest! I’m so glad I had someone to show me around and give me insight to the forest and the monkeys. It made it so much more meaningful hearing the history rather than walking around alone. Also he was great with monkey knowledge and took epic pictures of the monkeys and I. Which I wouldn’t have gotten alone. Thank you Rama! Please go to the monkey forest! It’s a dreamy place!

I got the most out of my monkey forest visit because my guide was so awesome! He knew all about the monkeys and the history of the park and bikes. I held a little monkey and made friends with a big chungus. Also, we went on a Sunday and got to see the frog dance across from the temple. Did I mention our guide was super cool? 10/10 will hang out with Yuda again.
