Glacier Country Helicopters is a local, family owned and operated company based in Franz Josef, on the West Coast of New Zealand. Husband and wife team Gus and Poppy started the company in January 2014 and you'll generally find one of them out flying most days.

On our Ultimate Discovery flight you'll see the three "big" glaciers. You'll fly over the Franz Josef, Fox & Tasman Glaciers and fly into the Southern Alps to see Mount Cook and enjoy the included 10-15 minute snow landing for photos. Total experience time approx. 45 minutes.

Please allow an extra 45minutes on top of your flight time to allow for checking in, transport to helicopter, loading, unloading and to return to our office.

Please let us know if you have limited mobility e.g. injury, arthritis or recent surgery? There are two high ladder style steps into the helicopter. This information could effect what helicopter we fly you in.

Our helicopter seats are 40cm wide. If you would like extra space or are wider than this we highly recommend booking a comfort seat which guarantees an empty seat next to you.

The weather was really bad unfortunately so we had to re-schedule the flight. that is just how it is in this region, so you have to be on stand by any time as a little window could open up suddenly… the staff was super helpful and the rescheduling worked well. the pilot was amazing. we had an incredible time and flight! definitely recommend this activity!

Wonderful to see the Franz Joseph Glacier up close but the weather was against us, should have been 3 Glaciers and a snow landing but the cloud was closing in so we had to have a shorter flight, still very good and they kept us updated.

Enjoyed every minute. Trip cut short due to weather but part of money refunded.. they kept us up to date the day before about this being a possibility. Pilot Poppy was very friendly and made sure everyone was comfortable re the ride. I would do this again.

It was a great experience bit expensive but views are worth it , staff gave exceptional service. Due to weather some times were affected but staff assisted in moving time to ensure we get the experience
