Pyramid of Menkaure
Standing beside Khufu’s pyramid are the second and third pyramids, built for Pharaoh Khafre and his successor Menkaure. Khafre’s pyramid still retains some of its original smooth casing stones near the top a rare glimpse into what these monuments once looked like. Don’t miss the alignment between Khafre’s pyramid and the Sphinx nearby.

5.00The tour took a leisurely approach so I could enjoy Saqqara, the pyramids and Memphis without feeling rushed. The lunch was basic - but satisfying. The day was composed of Historical experiences blended with a balance of Free Time to quietly reflect on that experience. Overall it was a very Positive experience as a solo traveller.

5.00An enjoyable day filled with opportunities to take in everything at your own pace, with a peaceful, quiet desert environment setting the atmosphere in Saqqara, followed by seeing the pyramids up close and getting simple yet clear explanations without feeling overwhelmed. Memphis provided a complementary experience just prior to lunch, which was a nice break. An excellent experience for anyone interested in their own personal exploration.

5.00The tour is a full and fun filled day for everyone in the group starting at Saqqara’s peaceful desert landscape, moving on to the massive Pyramids, and then ending in Memphis (the capital of Ancient Egypt). While there was such a different atmosphere at each of the stops, the tour guide’s method of communicating the stories throughout the day kept everything nice and simple, without making it confusing or boring. The lunch during the tour gave everyone the perfect opportunity to take a break in the middle of the day and to be social with their fellow travellers again. It certainly created an excellent experience for the group since there were so many friends together touring

5.00In taking this trip by myself, I found it to be an extremely powerful experience that allowed me to expand my knowledge and understanding of ancient Egypt. Visiting Saqqara, Memphis, and the Great Pyramids of Giza was even more moving as I walked through these sites by myself and took my time to appreciate all of the incredible details. The guide provided excellent direction and insight.

The guide enabled each stop to be meaningful, as he shared stories that created context for what we were seeing in ancient Egypt. A relaxing and delicious lunch served as a break along the day before continuing the pilgrimage.
