You cycle in a small group on the dikes and look almost beyond the horizon. Welcome to Old Holland's countryside and the oldest industrial area in the Netherlands.
This is the place where hundreds of windmills once stood, now only a few remain and you will visit one (outside the touristic area) to see how it is done. You will make a stop at the Old Dutch village "Zaanse Schans" with a cheese tasting and clog making.

Anyone opening a pantry in the Netherlands will find cookies, chocolate and salted snacks from Verkade in Zaandam, salad sauce and peanuts from Duyvis in Koog, cocoa powder from Cacao de Zaan in Zaandijk, cornstarch and macaroni from Honig in Koog. A whole pile of articles, 'made in the Zaanstreek'. Good chance that such products were bought in the stores around the corner of the Zaan retail group Albert Heijn.

5.00This tour was amazing! Such a memorable day! Hans was an amazing tour guide with so much knowledge! It was like a Dutch history lesson! We were on the tour with a really lovely family who really made it even more awesome! The ride was easier than I thought and the weather was great (aside from a little rain) and the countryside was beautiful. Highly recommend booking!
