Zahara de la Sierra
Heading southeast we leave Seville for the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park in the province of Cadiz, where one of the highest rainfall points in the entire Iberian peninsula is located. This area, declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, preserves among its mountains one of the most beautiful forests in Europe, the pinsapar. The pinsapo (Abies pinsapo) is a species of spruce surviving the last ice ages, which takes refuge in the coolest and wettest umbrias of this mountain range, still preserving some forests such as the Sierra del Pinar, in the municipality of Grazalema. Our first destination will be Zahara de la Sierra, where we will make a short stop to walk through its streets, admire the landscapes of the Sierra from its viewpoint, and have, if we wish, a snack before continuing our route.
Setenil de las Bodegas
From Zahara de la Sierra we head towards Setenil de las Bodegas, the impregnable village, as the story goes; in this beautiful place we can admire its houses carved into the rock, enjoy its wines and taste the rich cuisine of Setenil.

A great day seeing the white villages and Ronda. Roman was a great guide sharing his vast knowledge and making sure we had a great day. He had excellent recommendations at every stop for the best views for photos, things to see and where to eat. The only thing that could make this better was if he had a microphone in the van. He had lots of interesting commentary while we drove and sometimes it was hard to hear in the back of the van, especially with the A/C running. Would definitely recommend.

We had an excellent visit. During the trip, Román shared with us very good and varied information about the region, its history, and customs. The towns we visited before arriving in Ronda, Zahara and Setenil de las Bodegas, were a plus.

Three unique towns. The small village of Zahara, the quaint town of Setenil with the stores and houses in the rock walls, and the small city of Ronda. All were charming in different ways. Our guide Roman was super knowledgeable about the history of the region, about the types of agriculture, and about small-town life. The drive time was about soaking up the knowledge, while the village time was about exploring and enjoying the sights. We got free time in each town and Roman told us about unique places in each one. A wonderful day trip!

We had an amazing day with Roman! We was so patient with us all (we basically laughed all day long) and spoke passionately about all things Spain! We had a great day! Thank you Roman!
