Watch a real Maiko perform up close—an extremely rare chance, as only about 40 remain in Kyoto today. The show includes two short dances (about 10 minutes total), followed by a Q&A, photo session, and a traditional Japanese game.
Note: Maiko performances are intentionally short to preserve the art, so she will not perform for the full hour.
We offer two different tour options:
Tea House: held inside an authentic Kyo-Machiya.
Gion Theater: held in a dedicated showhouse.
Please check the photos before booking.
When booking, please provide a phone number reachable during your stay in Japan and on WhatsApp. If you are a travel agent please enter the guest’s number, not the agency’s. This is so we can have a smooth interaction with guests before the tour, and provide clear information beforehand.
Suitable for all physical fitness levels

Kamishichiken Street
We will watch a one-hour geisha performance, where she will showcase her artistry and traditional dances. You'll have the opportunity to ask her questions and take photos together. Depending on the day, the activities with the geisha may vary.

Excellent performance with intimate q and a. Everyone got a chance to ask a question and photo with the Maiko. Very well organised and the host was attentive and helpful

A special experience; it is not so easy to spend time with a Maiko, especially due to the dwindling numbers of geikos and Maikos, it is an exclusive industry.

Our English speaking host Akari was very welcoming. She was very easy to follow and gave us clear information regarding the training and day to day life of a maiko. Our Maiko San was very open in answering our questions and gave us a good insight into her world. Her dances were very beautiful and told a story. We played a fun game at the end, and there was an opportunity for audience participation. Overall, it was a fun night, and I would recommend this show if you have time during your stay in Kyoto.

What an amazing experience. Our guide Soichiro was excellent. The performance and the cultural enrichment is just amazing. I recommend this very much to those looking for a different experience. This was not about making tea but learning about the gaisha.

Super nice experience, you have the chance to visit a tea house and meet a Maiko. Plus it gives you the possibility to ask questions to the Maiko. Very well organised!

Truly an incredible and educational experience. Both entertaining and beautiful with the ability to not only learn culture and history through interaction, but have a genuinely fun experience! Mr Soichiro was very amazing guide and super kind!

Amazing experience! More than I expected, our tour guide Soichiro was very personable and friendly. The Maiko was very friendly as well and answered many questions, with a translator. The dance was beautiful and the game we played after very fun. We were surprised after that we went to visit a shrine guided by the Maiko which was the cherry on top. Truly amazing experience and I highly recommend it.

Our family enjoyed watching a maiko perform. The performances were short but we loved playing the fun game with the maiko. Slightly overpriced but still a unique experience when you are in Kyoto/gion area.

They can switch the time on you last minute. They would not pick us up from station or arrange taxi even though they changed the time. They told us to be there 10 minutes early for new time change and that once show started no one can get in a few minutes late. We ran. It started late anyway. They let other guests knock and get in even later
