Many of the tea ceremony instructors who will be in charge of the tea ceremony have been involved in tea ceremony culture for many years, and they will not only explain the tea ceremony culture you want to know about, but also provide detailed explanations about all aspects of Japanese culture. They will also give you direct advice on how to enjoy the real tea ceremony culture.

Also, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot.

What To Expect

In this program, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot and then enjoy the tea ceremony experience with a master. Our tea room has been used for three generations. It is located near Daitoku-ji Temple, a place deeply rooted in Japanese tea culture. It's a bit old, but we'll do our best to help alleviate the fatigue from your trip to Japan. First, a tea master who has studied tea ceremonies for 30 years will show you the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. After having a cup of tea with seasonal sweets, you will learn about the history and etiquette of the ceremony, and even have the chance to prepare your tea. Why don't you share a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime time with the tea master?

My son asked me to give this experiance a 10 out of five! What a fabulous opportunity to learn about the tradition of the tea ceremony, with both detailed explanations and the chance to ask questions. The opportunity to put on a kimono was a bonus and there were many lovely outfits to choose from. The staff where all very helpful and kind.

We truly enjoyed this experience. They were ready for us soon as we arrived. We picked out which kimono we wanted and they also did my hair. We learned about the culture of Japan , what a tea ceremony meant and also learned about making matcha as well. It was a lovely experience.

A very chilled and yet moving experience with lovely guidance and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you also very much for your present! The ceremony itself was very intense and touching experience with amazing precision and love to the task. Definitly an important moment of our travels.

  • The Tea Ceremony experience we were hoping for

Lovely, fun and educational tea ceremony from start to finish. Madame Mira was classy, professional, polite, enthusiastic and truly invested in us having a good experience. Each part was thoughtful and enjoyable: choosing and wearing the kimono, my wife having her hair done, taking our photos, explaining each step and detail of the tea ceremony and its significance. This seemed like a cultural education program rather than a business which we truly appreciated. Nothing gimmicky or over the top - just what we were hoping for! Highly recommend!

We are so happy for making the time to attend this Japanese Tea Ceremony. The shop is located steps away from a beautiful shrine, so try to visit it before heading to your tea appointment. The experience at the tea shop was great: confirmation of details/address and logistics, lovely staff, kimono dressing was fun and enhanced the experience. The tea master explained in detail the rituals about this traditional ceremony. Highly recommend this booking when traveling to Kyoto!!!! Take pics!!!
