In this program, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot and then enjoy the tea ceremony experience with a master. Our tea room has been used for three generations. It is located near Daitokuji Temple, a place related to Japanese tea culture. It's a bit old, but we'll do our best to relieve your fatigue from your trip to Japan. First, a tea master who has studied tea ceremonies for 50 years will show you the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. After having a cup of tea with seasonal sweets, we will explain the historical background of the tea ceremony. Of course, in the end, you can experience making tea yourself. Why don't you share a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime time with the tea master?

What an awesome way to learn about matcha and Japanese history! At this experience, we all got to wear kimono, fashioned expertly by the very kind ladies working there. While the tea master prepared for the ceremony, a very knowledgeable and bubbly man told us about the history of the tea ceremony, involving monks and samurai. The actual tea ceremony was interesting and soothing, and it was clear that the tea master was an expert at her craft. The matcha was delicious too!

The tea ceremony was relatively short and OK though the host and guide did a great job explaining everything. Most of the time was spent dressing up in Kimonos and taking photos (a lot of them). The location of the tea house was far away from most of Kyoto's attractions so getting there and back was a hike (no metro connectivity)

This is a must do. The women dressing you in the kimono were kimono masters and I left like I had stepped back in time when I was dressed. The ceremony was so interesting and the translator was so funny with his stories before the ceremony. He took so many pictures with your own phone for you. Then we got to make our own tea. Directions were east to follow to find the address.

We enjoyed the formal tea experience and learning about its history. Our hosts were very kind and spent a lot of time helping us choose and properly put on our kimonos. The tea service was very interesting. Our tea master spent time answering questions after the ceremony which was also very interesting. If you’re looking for a formal tea ceremony complete with kimono attire, this is a can’t miss.
