2.00Disappointed! We did not visit 2 stops. Never tried the fish/seafood or the sausage. Guide told us the seafood place was closed….not sure why the tour would be scheduled without an alternative to tasting one of the specialties of Amsterdam. The tour catered more to a teenagers taste. French fries were the highlight of any of the food. Had to ask for drinks and weren’t even offered any at some places. Not what I would expect from a tour of this price. The young girl that did our tour was nice but would have preferred a guide with some culinary knowledge of the area.

2.00Would not recommend this tour. Our guide took us to a nice selection of food spots but she offered no background to anything on the tour, not the food, nor the restaurants, the city or the country, so the guide was poor. Moreover, also unlike every other food tour we’ve taken anywhere in the world, none of the venues expected us, so tables weren’t ready for us, food wasn’t ready or even available at the time of our tour, and one place was closed. We assume that was the fault of the tour operator as well as the guide. We tipped generously regardless but probably gave her the wrong signal in so doing.
Nice overview of local food but lack of training made this a less desirable tour.

3.00Our guide, Paula, was a lovely young woman and tried her best to please us. However, she had little training prior to the tour. A trainer should have accompanied her for this first tour she had ever done. This was not her fault, rather, I blame tour company management for not training this promising and brand new guide properly.

5.00We got to sample local food that we would not have other wise tried on this tour. Senna was kind and knowledgeable of the area’s local food spots. She was able to pivot when the herring place was closed for the day and she added another stop in its place seamlessly. Very friendly and it was overall a good pace with plenty of time in between stops.

Every stop offered something delicious — from the flavorful Surinamese-style bara with chicken to the sweet and chewy stroopwafels, plus a wonderful cheese tasting and other tasty treats. Everything was fresh, rich in flavor, and a joy to try. The guide was amazing, friendly, and full of great stories, which made the whole experience even more special. Highly recommend!
