What To Expect
The Jordaan
On this Secret Food Walking Tour you'll discover the best local Dutch food the Amsterdam's Jordaan neighborhood has to offer. The Jordaan is Amsterdam's Greenwich Village, with its narrow alleys, leafy canals lined with 17th-century houses, quirky specialty shops, cafes and designer boutiques. You'll get to taste traditional homemade pancakes called "Poffertjes." Next, you'll sample some of the best Dutch cheeses. You'll visit a local fishmonger and dine on herring and traditional kibbeling, battered chunks of fish. You'll taste Stamppot, a local favorite. And at the end there will be a delicious Secret Dish.
Westertoren
You'll pass by the Westertoren ("Western tower"), the highest church tower in Amsterdam, at 87 meters (±286 feet).

5.00We booked a private tour for five couples the day we arrived in Amsterdam ahead of our Christmas Markets river cruise. While my husband and I have enjoyed Secret Food Tours in other cities, it was the first for our friends. After roaming the streets of Amsterdam, tasting delicious bites with Mike, our friends now know why we insisted on doing a food tour to kick off our European adventure. Mike shared the sites, tastes, and culture of Amsterdam with our group.

5.00My Secrets Food Tour with Jolanda was one of the absolute highlights of my trip to Amsterdam! She was an incredible guide—warm, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable about the real history and culture of the city. I appreciated how upfront and honest she was while sharing Amsterdam’s past. Her explanations were rich, nuanced, and delivered with the kind of authenticity that only someone born and raised in the Netherlands could provide. What made this tour extra special were the personal stories she shared—growing up here, visiting many of the same places she took us, and giving context you simply won’t get from a textbook or museum placard. It felt like walking through the city with a friend who loves where she’s from and wants you to love it just as much. The food itself was fantastic—we sampled a wide range of cuisines from different ethnic backgrounds, and there was plenty to eat. Every stop was well chosen, delicious, and connected to the narrative she was building about Amsterdam’s diverse communities and evolving culinary landscape. This was my second Secrets Food Tour, and because of guides like Jolanda, I plan to keep booking them on all of my future travels. 5.00I joined the Secret Food Tours Amsterdam today with Jolanda and I have to say this is one of the best Secret Food Tours I’ve ever done (and I’ve done a few) Not only the food was amazing, Jolanda wrapped it up with fascinating and engaging facts about Amsterdam and the Netherlands, one would never learn on its own. All the other guests were so in awe with the experience we were all commenting that. If i ever return to Amsterdam I will do it again, and I hope I have Jolanda as a guide. Book this tour now!

5.00Amsterdam was our 4th tour with Secret Food Tours and they never disappoint. The food was varied and delicious, even as a fussy eater, I absolutely loved everthing. Our guide, Mike, was brilliant, he was passionate and knowlegeable about Dutch food and history. Very friedly and easy to talk to, it felt like meeting someone we already knew. Cannot recommend enough!
