Lisse
After a short ride from Amsterdam to the bulbflower area around Lisse, we start your tour by making a scenic ride in this area. Depending upon the season you see a landscape with colourful bulbflower carpets in almost any colour you can imagine.
Keukenhof
Then we continue to the true highlight of this tour, the park Keukenhof. Once a mere kitchen garden filled with vegetables and herbs, the Keukenhof - smack dab in the middle of South Holland’s tulip region - now has the distinction of being the world’s largest flower garden, hosting some 800,000 visitors per year. This guided tour will take you through the 15 kilometers of footpaths and 32 hectares of gardens, where millions of bulbs are planted each year. Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and other spring bulbs of a variety of vibrant colours carpet the grounds. Stroll through the English landscape garden, the Japanese country garden, and the historical garden. Take in the flower sculpture, based on an annual theme.

It was an amazing Tulip fest experience at Keukenhof. We punctually left Amsterdam at 9:00am & we were parked very close to the entrance. The park was beautiful!!! Our lady guide was very informative. We were given 3 hours at the park & given a choice to stay with the guide or not. The rest of the tour was okay, clog making, cheese tasting and the windmills. Overall 4⭐️

Keukenhof Garden was fabulous, and the guide gave us enough time to explore on our own. BUT the guide did not speak to the whole group when "guiding" us for 30 minutes in the garden; she spoke only to those immediately next to her. When someone complained about not hearing, her reply was, "Well, I don't have a microphone." Either Viator should provide a microphone and headsets for all guests, or just skip this part of the tour. And the guide should use her best outdoor guide voice (loud) as I heard other guides doing. The rest of the tour was very disappointing. Zaanse Schans is basically a tourist trap and could be covered in one hour. Instead, there was far too much time allotted to shopping, and the souvenirs were kitsch and overpriced. Again, the guide spoke only to lucky few who could hear her. I was unable to use the canal cruise vouchers because we returned too late in the day and had other events planned the following day before we left for home. Description of this tour does NOT indicate that we must find lunch on our own, and it should.

Loved the first half, going to Keukenhof Garden at the height of tulip season. Very disappointed with the second half, a visit to a reconstructed village (Zaanse Schans) which was little more than a tourist trap, with way too much time allocated for shopping. If you come to the Netherlands and never get to see working old windmills, cheese manufacturing, and wooden shoe production, the visit to Zaanse Schans might be worth your time. But there are other, better ways to get that experience. Biggest disappointment of all was our guide (Tosca). On the bus, she gave some background about the country and the sights we would see, and did so in three languages. Very impressive. But at the stops, she did not even try to communicate with the 45 guests who came on the bus. You had to be right next to her to hear anything, and she spoke ONLY in English. When someone complained about not hearing, her reply was, "Well, I don't have a microphone." This is poor planning on the part of the tour company. And we could hear other tour guides using their big booming voices so most of their guests could hear. So much for the promised "guided tour." Finally, the canal boat ride. We got back too late in the day to use the voucher, and had a day full of other plans before we left Amsterdam, so that was a waste of our money. If you take this tour, make sure you have a free day later to use the canal boat ride voucher.
