Discover Amsterdam on a 2.5-hour walking tour that blends history, culture, and entertainment into an unforgettable experience. Led by a knowledgeable guide, explore the city centre and hear fascinating stories often overlooked by guidebooks. Learn how a small settlement on the Amstel River became Europe’s trading hub during the Dutch Golden Age.
The tour also covers Amsterdam’s more controversial past: the evolution of the Red Light District, liberal drug policies, and the darkest chapters of the 20th century. Each stop offers a unique perspective, helping you understand why this city is unlike any other.
By the end, you’ll gain a deep understanding of Amsterdam—its history, contradictions, tolerant spirit, and vibrant present—and the confidence to explore on your own. This tour is the ideal starting point to make the most of your stay in the Dutch capital.

We had a great time with Clair. We felt like we really got a good feel of Amsterdam and it’s history. Clair pointed out architectural sights we would have never looked up and seen on our own. All in all it was so educational and loads of fun.

Good for. There are 8 of us which is a good number for a city walking tour. The tour was just over 2 hours and we saw a lot and learned a lot of history from the 1600s through World War II as well as contemporary life Our guide was easy to understand with a great sense of humor. Recommend highly

An excellent guide. But I can’t say that I would use Viator again. We booked tickets for the van gough museum for today. They were paid for and you canceled the tickets for no reason. I can’t tell you how disappointed we are. I would never recommend your company to anyone.
