Alex and Lex were great! We enjoyed seeing the lights and the whole city on the boat! Highly recommend this tour, but definitely dress warm in the winter months.

As someone from Amsterdam guiding family around, I was pleasantly surprised by this small boating company. Nico sailed us comfortably through the canals in a covered boat with good inner climate and a small outside bit to take the best photos of the art installations. Dejan served lovely mulled wine, told us all about the artworks and even threw in a lot of Amsterdam facts that I didn't know! It was a true pleasure experiencing the Amsterdam Light Festival this way.

The staff were great and friendly and the mulled wine was perfect for a chilly night. But that’s where the positives end. “Light festival” means something different in the US compared to Amsterdam. The light festivals I had gone to before meant everything was covered in lights and holiday decorations. This light festival is an art exhibition where a few pieces of art are made from lights and are scattered down the canals. One of the staff members is to give a little background on each piece. But in my boat, a group of 10 or so drunk people shouted over anything the staff member said so he eventually gave up. The group also shouted/sang over the Christmas songs on the speakers so that was eventually shut off too. I wouldn’t recommend this tour. There are better ways to see the art and canals

The boattrrip was really nice- plenty of mulled wine. Blankets- come early, otherwise you sit with no cover over your head and it is quite chilly. Great stories. We came for the Festival of Lights- didn’t like the art- very lame compared to Berlin. Maybe it’s better in the city???? I enjoyed it

Great evening tour of the multiple art/light presentations along the canals. The tour was comfortable despite colder temperatures and the tour guide Jasmin was awesome and so informative, as was our pilot Bart. We enjoyed the informative descriptions of all the art installations as well as the history of Amsterdam and the canals they provided and enjoyed the hospitality and drinks provided. Would recommend this tour and company for a fun and enjoyable time!

The boat and service were great. The installations, looking at the fact that they were about AI and technology, were a bit disappointing. This was my third time visiting the Amsterdam Light Festival and I did not find it so interesting this year, sorry.

We were very keen to catch the Canal Light Festival that runs from December through to mid-January. After researching several options, we felt BoatAmsterdam offered the best package and value for money. The weather looked poor, so we opted for a small (about 30 people), semi-open boat (important if you want to get good photos) that offered free gluhwein, wine, beer and soft drinks, as well as blankets (Amsterdam can get pretty cold) and a toilet. The dry and witty Captain Jack (thankfully without the drunkenness, eyeliner and pet monkey!) effortlessly guided us through the canals while funny and laidback Lex served the drinks as well as providing informative yet unobtrusive commentary on the light installations as well as Amsterdam in general. We learned a lot! An added bonus was discovering the Hermitage Museum. It is the meeting place for the cruise and our brief wander around suggested it was a really interesting set of museums away from the hectic energy of central Amsterdam. Despite the weather, we had a superbly calm and cosy evening in excellent company guided by a highly professional crew. We would heartily recommend!

We were on a closed boat which was a good option given the fact that it was cold outside. The tour started on time, there was a recorded story-teller speaking in English (even though it is mentioned as both English and Dutch in the description). The hosts were friendly. They served us with some drinks, though the quality was low. When it comes to the downsides, there was condensing inside the boat, therefore we couldn't see the installations well. After a while they cleaned the windows a little bit which made the views a bit better. On the other hand, the boat has seats facing each other which means it was a hassle for half of the passengers who had to look back most of the time. Lastly, the installations of the Amsterdam Light Festival 2022 were dull compared to the installations of previous years.
