The dam, Also known as the City built on trees: Due to the soil in Amsterdam consisting of a thick layer of fen and clay, some buildings in the city are built on wooden poles that are fixed in a sandy layer that is approximately 11 meters deep. A great way to experience the red light district in a respectful and safe way . Arie the guide was knowledgeable and kind . Lots of history to hear about . So fascinating. I’m so glad my husband and I chose this tour to experience this part of Amsterdam. The tour guide educated us on respectful etiquette when waking through the allies where the girls work . A great time !!

Aarre was our guide and he was excellent. Everything you would hope for in a tour guide. He was engaging, funny, respectful, and shared a lot of knowledge about the history of the Red Light District (and Amsterdam). He was enthusiastic about answering our questions and held the complexities of the past, present and future of Amsterdam well. Highly recommend. Would book with him again.

Robin was a wonderful guide. He was compassionate toward our older family member and made sure she could keep up with the group. He also tastefully but honestly discussed the history of the red light district. Well done, Robin!
