Located between the Acropolis and the Ilissos river, the colossal Olympeion was one of the greatest ancient temples of Zeus and one of the most famous marble buildings in the ancient World. We will talk about the Temple and its stories from the outside.
Acropolis
The greatest and finest sanctuary of ancient Athens, dedicated primarily to its patron, the goddess Athena, has been dominating the centre of the city for millenia. The monuments of the Acropolis (the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechteion, the Propylae, the Theater of Dionysus,...), all unique masterpieces of ancient architecture, have influenced art and culture for many centuries and stand in harmony with their natural setting.

Visit made with Vassia. The tour was very good, with a very nice guide, speaking perfectly French and knowing his subject very well. Visit of about 4 hours, with walking of course between sites, but without rushing. Timing very well done. In the multitude of possible choices to visit these parts of Athens, it seemed to us the best to be in French and we were not mistaken. This company also allows you to book tickets directly for us for the sites. My only regret: that they do not exist on other sites in Greece:)

A tour is only as good as the guide. Dani was phenomenal! So much knowledge, well paced, kept the group together as much as possible without causing blockage to others. Also frequently tested our own knowledge of the Gods. Having studied mythology many many years ago i was pleased that my memory was still reasonably intact. But, Dani always had just a little bit more to add that we were not aware of. If we were to do it again, Dani would be our choice for a guide.

What a fabulous tour exploring the Acropolis and surrounding sites and introducing all the mythological stories and beliefs associated with them. We had the best 2 and a bit hours visiting the whole complex and listening to Angelica who was a fabulous story teller and guide.

We had a very nice morning on our mythology tour. Our guide was a mythology major and she was informative as to what we were looking at with all of the ruins around the city. A very good tour.

Wow! Absolutely loved our tour! Easy to find, they gave us a map at the start which was nice to be able to see the layout. Our guide also had an iPad and was able to show pictures to show descriptions and images of how things might have looked. He even showed us an app called Chronos that had a map he would show us where we where and as he went further into it it would show a 3D visual of what the structures would look like as if we were standing there in the space. I absolutely loved it! I mentioned in passing that I worked in surgery and surprisingly he made it a point to show us the Atheneans old version of a clinic building and showed us a picture of the old medical equipment that they excavated and is now in the museum. The group was small (about 11 of us) and he would make a point to stop in shady spots to tell us the Greek Myths and connect these story's to what we were seeing. My husband and I had a great time!!
