Acropolis

The Acropolis of Athens and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world. In the second half of the fifth century bc, Athens, following the victory against the Persians and the establishment of democracy, took a leading position amongst the other city-states of the ancient world. In the age that followed, as thought and art flourished, an exceptional group of artists put into effect the ambitious plans of Athenian statesman Pericles and, under the inspired guidance of the sculptor Pheidias, transformed the rocky hill into a unique monument of thought and the arts. The most important monuments were built during that time: the Parthenon, built by Ictinus, the Erechtheon, the Propylaea, the monumental entrance to the Acropolis, designed by Mnesicles and the small temple Athena Nike.

A bit bummed because we ended up with another guy due to our luggage and not having a car big enough. He was nice, but pretty dry, didn't give us history or explanations while driving us around. I had told them we didn't need to see everything as we aren't huge museum people, when I booked it. This didn't seem to translate over. He was always there to pick us up after free time, but not what we expected at all.

Maria was a fabulous tour guide and driver. This tour was so special. We were greeted at the port for our private tour. Maria traversed Athens through the most insane traffic and took us to great sights. We were able to personalize our trip. Would highly recommended.

Nico was super nice and very accommodating, we have some mobility issues and he made sure our visit was pleasant and accessible, helped us all the way, took care of tickets, recommended a great restaurant for lunch and beyond! Thank you very much!
Take this tour ONLY in the very early morning to avoid disappointment and traffic. Very expensive for what you get.

I mistakenly booked this tour for the wrong day and the tour operator very kindly offered a replacement driver for mid morning after I disembarked from my cruise ship. Unfortunately 2/3 (if not more) of the tour was spent in traffic. The tour guide mistakenly advised me to purchase the a ticket that was not accepted at the gate because I was not an EU resident and after having waited to get in at the entry gate I was told I had to go back to purchase another ticket as a NON EU resident. That ticket line was long and filled with scammers who were selling tickets, which I luckily avoided. The tour guide, who was mostly silent throughout the tour (perhaps there was not much to say when you’re in traffic), was pleasant enough and accommodated me as best he could. He brought me to a couple places where the view was spectacular. However, the tour was quite a disappointment and a very expensive one at that. I terminated it after only 3 1/2 hours of the 4–5 hour tour plan. It was a shame to be in Athens and not see the important sites.

Very satisfied. We had a woderful driver, Stefano, who communicated very well, from the day before by whatapp and text, to make sure that we knew what to expect. He gave good advice about booking tickets on line in advance. He was on time to pick us up, good personality, spoke English well. Showed us all the things we wanted, was friendly, courteous- we felt safe and in good hands. It was a very nice experience and we would recommend.
