Join us as we explore the largest indoor market in Hungary, gather fresh ingredients, and then head over to our nearby apartment for a hands-on cooking session and cultural immersion.

We'll start by meeting up at the iconic Central Market Hall of Budapest. From there, we'll take a short walk around the market, chatting about Hungarian history, cuisine, and culture while tasting some of the flavorus of Hungary!

After the Market, we head over to our apartment, where a selection of mouth-watering snacks, like sausages, salamis, dips, and cheeses waiting for us before we get to it!

Then, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get cooking!

From there, we bring those fresh, seasonal ingredients to our cozy Budapest-style venue and learn how to prepare traditional Hungarian dishes, based on real family recipes. Along the way, guests connect with the city, the food, and each other: discovering not just how Hungarian cuisine tastes, but how it’s shaped by tradition, stories, and everyday life in Budapest. It’s not just a cooking class, it’s a cultural experience served family-style.

This experience was fantastic and very well organized. I really enjoyed the challenge during the class and how interactive it was. It was fun to actively take part and create the dishes ourselves. The instructors were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience engaging and relaxed. The food was delicious, and I learned techniques that I’ll definitely use again at home. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Budapest who wants a hands-on and memorable cooking experience!

This was such a fun class, made all the better by our instructor Mesi! I loved that we started in the central market to pick up fresh ingredients as well as receiving a history of the country and its agriculture. I also appreciated that the apartment where we cooked was decorated to make it feel homey rather than a sterile environment. It felt like we were at a friend's house cooking a meal together. Definitely recommend for people looking for a different experience in Budapest!

This was such a fun experience! I loved that it started with shopping in the central market to buy ingredients we would use. Our guide Mesi also took that opportunity to provide some history of Hungary that helped to provide context to the food culture of the country. Once in the kitchen, I appreciated it was decorated to feel like a real kitchen versus a sterile environment so it really felt like we were in a friend's kitchen hanging out while cooking dinner. The final meal was delicious and I can't wait to make it at home!

Birdie, was the name she gave us because her real name meant black bird in Hungarian. After a couple drinks I forgot the Hungarian name. Birdie was amazing. She was competent and very knowledgeable about Hungarian culture and history. While the chicken paprikash was cooking she was a lovely guide through Hungarian culture. Besides being a fantastic meal, we had an amazing time connecting with other people whom we cooked.

This class far exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t sure what to expect as a solo traveler because experiences like this can be hit or miss, but this ended up being one of the most fun and informative cooking classes I have taken anywhere in the world. Mesi was incredible: friendly, welcoming, funny, and very generous with her knowledge. She shared stories about Hungarian history, her hometown, and local culture in a way that made the entire experience feel personal and special. The market tour was a perfect start, and the cooking portion flew by because we were having such a great time. I would highly recommend this class to anyone, including couples, families, groups, and especially solo travelers like me. Next time I am in Budapest, I would absolutely book this again & request Mesi!

Mesi was absolutely delightful! She was so well informed, really knew her stuff! Spoke beautiful English, no problems at all there. The market was buzzing with activity, she took the time to show us various vendors as we shopped for dinner. Then at the apt which was spacious and so beautiful too, we all chopped and mixed and made a delicious dinner as we got to know our fellow travelers. I can’t think of a better tour we’ve been on. Thank you Mesi and Foodapest!

Mesi was an amazing guide, and extremely fun to have. The tour was very knowledgeable and we got to walk around before coming together to make a beautiful meal together. She was so nice, especially when we might have messed up, she promised it was okay and we all laughed at it in the end. I would definitely recommend doing this again, especially with Mesi.
