Unlike many tour companies in town that allow up to 20 people in each group, my Charleston tour is guaranteed to have no more than 12. The most unique aspect of my tour is the high level of historical professionalism that I deliver to my guests. Earning a Ph.D. in history meant spending thousands of hours reading and researching primary sources in the South Carolina archives. I use the knowledge that I have obtained from that hard work and pass it off to you on the tour. Because I limit the number of guests to 12 and offer a tour that is 45 minutes longer than most in town, you will receive a degree of exclusivity and historical depth that is far greater than what is offered by the larger tour companies in Charleston.

Eric was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Charleston history. The length of the walk was just right with frequent stops and was very enjoyable.

This tour guide is AMAZING! If you really want to learn about life in early Charleston, this will be one of the best experiences in the city. Eric is incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to historical accuracy. He does not waste a single minute of your almost 3 hour trip and is extremely engaging.

I lived in Charleston for seven years before I finally took a history tour and I’m SO GLAD that I chose Eric Lager’s tour! He is INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about Charleston and made the tour fun and informational. He touched on all the important parts of Charleston’s history that you want to know about as well as some surprising little details that you never would have guessed. I would highly recommend!

Eric did a wonderful job touring us around historic Charleston! His knowledge of the area’s history is amazing and I learned so much! The smaller group size made it a lot easier to ask questions and hear and we were able to stop at important sites easier than a larger group. I would highly recommend!!

Eric was probably the most knowledgable guide we have had on our trip up the East Coast. Entertaining and personable, we truly enjoyed our (freezing - it was only 40 degrees) walking tour. Don’t take any other tour than his as you won’t get the depth of background info that he provides from any other guide. Truly, a great 3 hrs. spent with a true historian.

While visiting Charleston this week I decided to take Eric Lager Charleston Walking tour. I was here two years ago and I had already been on Eric’s tour. Well he was as good as he was on his first tour. . Eric is a walking book. What distinguishes him among others tour guides is Facts, Facts and Facts. It is extremely evident what he shares is actual resulting from the 1600’s to the present day Charleston. Another big plus is he keeps his tours to 12 guests. Thanks for another great tour. I’ll be back,

Amazing tour! Learned so much about Charleston and its history. Eric, our guide, did a great job and handled all questions . We loved the fact he limits his tours to 12 people so it was easy to hear him when sharing his info. I would highly recommend this tour.

Eric is the tour guide you always want to have when doing a tour. He was knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Charleston and goes beyond with stories he has researched. Tour was limited to 12 so it did feel more intimate. Eric even spent time talking to people on the tour individually and giving personal attention. He has answers to all the questions. Perfect tour! Thank you Eric!
