Unlike many tour companies in town that allow up to 20 people in each group, my Charleston tour is guaranteed to have no more than 12. The most unique aspect of my tour is the high level of historical professionalism that I deliver to my guests. Earning a Ph.D. in history meant spending thousands of hours reading and researching primary sources in the South Carolina archives. I use the knowledge that I have obtained from that hard work and pass it off to you on the tour. Because I limit the number of guests to 12 and offer a tour that is 45 minutes longer than most in town, you will receive a degree of exclusivity and historical depth that is far greater than what is offered by the larger tour companies in Charleston.

This was the best tour we have ever been on. Normally tour guides memorize what they need to know about their area. Eric lives the history. His love of the region and his knowledge combine to make a wonderous experience. We more than recommend him

We were looking for some great historical information with a view of the beautiful architecture and Eric did not disappoint. His wealth of knowledge dating back to the city's earliest days was refreshing and appreciated. I felt like we could not find a question to which he did not have an answer (and he even gave us his card offering to answer anything that came up later.) Thank you for a wonderful tour!

Eric shared a wealth of knowledge on our walking tour. We saw alot of historic downtown Charleston and found a few places worth a later visit. He is obviously passionate about the history and hood ability to share with visitors. The only downside was that it was difficult to hear him at times and he might benefit from some type of microphone because there was typical street noise and we had to spread out on the sidewalk. Our tour lasted about three hours and covered alot of the historic area, but the walk was at a comfortable pace. Would definitely recommend this tour for those interested in the history of Charleston and its important role in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

Dr.Lager (Eric) did a fantastic job of guiding our small ( by intention) group. Info was well presented, interesting and entertaining. Engaged with the group, flexible, chats along the route, great job fielding questions. One of the best walking history tours I’ve been on ( which includes London, Edinburgh, York, Bristol and Paris…which were all good ). If a PhD in history of Charleston and SC doesn’t hook you, his years of experience teaching and entertaining groups as a guide should. Highly Recommend! Enjoy!

We were lucky enough to have our historic walking tour led by Eric four our group of 8 ladies visiting on a girls trip. He was very knowledgeable, energetic, and clearly passionate about the city of Charleston. He answered our questions when we had them and added great stories. By the end of our walk we felt even more interested in Charleston. The pacing of the walk was just right and even thought the weather was really bad, we were all glad that we took this tour.

We had a great time and learned a lot about the history of Charleston. The small group was perfect because you get a more personal interaction. Professor Lager’s extensive knowledge was great and he also interacted with questions from us. From before Revolution era to the Civil War and beyond. Prof. Lager covered in a short amount of time (3 hours plus) the people, buildings and events during those times. We definately would go in this tour again.
