Chiang Rai
207 Km. drive from the middle of Chiang Mai city to Baan Dam (Black House) is the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee. Part art studio, part museum, part home, Baan Dam is an eclectic mix of traditional northern Thai buildings interspersed with some outlandish modern designs. Baan Dam is a thought-provoking combination of sanuk, the surreal and the sombre and whilst it’s fair to say that some of the artwork and themes on display won’t be to everybody’s liking, I’d still recommend checking out the Black House if you are visiting Chiang Rai Total driving round trip on the road 5 hours
Wat Rong Khun
Rong Khun Temple is unique from other temples in that it has been constructed entirely in a radiant white color with sparking reflections from mirrored glass mosaics embedded in the white plaster. The temple is the idea of Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat, one of Thailand most renowned artists, who wanted to build a temple all in white to signify the purity of Lord Buddha. The artist continues to puts his religious belief and desire to enrich Buddhism in Thailand into his contemporary art design.

Was a great opportunity to see the temples and the Golden triangle, get in a refreshing boat ride, and learn about the Karen tribes- I had a really nice experience. The guide Nomi was excellent, knowledgeable and very helpful. Was a long day and worth every minute!

This was a loooong day. Picked up at 7am, dropped off at 10pm. The white temple was beautiful and the Golden Triangle and Maekong River boat ride were a unique, enjoyable experience. They could have eliminated the visit to the Baan Dam museum and shortened the trip.

A great trip - a long day but worth it as you see so much of northern Thailand. Lots of different, varied places of interest. Get to dip feet in the hot springs, the Long Neck Tribe and other peoples were beautiful. The temples stunning - loved the white temple as so different contrasting with the more traditional blue templ, and the black house area with the art work interesting. And finally the golden triangle and boat trip along the Mekong River. A long way but the guide and driver were great. Loved it all and would recommend.

This tour was long any may be worth it if you have a short amount of time in Chiang Mai and want to see several different sights but lower your expectations. Everything is just a tourist trap now. The worst being the Karen Village. It is not authentic. It is just a market with mass produced souvenirs. That is, it is a new settlement formed by some organization a few months back. While maybe well intentioned, it felt like a human zoo. Honestly, this tour would be better if they removed the Karen "Village" visit.
