Fujairah holds a unique position in the UAE. It is the only emirate that lies on the eastern side of the UAE, along the Gulf of Oman, while other six emirates are along the Arabian Gulf.
Khor Fakkan is a city and exclave of the Emirate of Sharjah, located on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates, facing the Gulf of Oman, and geographically surrounded by the Emirate of Fujairah. The city, the second largest on the east coast after Fujairah City, is set on the bay of Khor Fakkan, which means "Creek of Two Jaws".
The Emirate derives its name from a spring of water located beneath one of the mountains. The Hajar mountain range that divides the UAE in two, from Ras Al Khaimah to Al Ain has kept Fujairah separated from the rest of the country. The historical importance of Fujairah dates back to the period before the birth of Christ. It was known in the old ages as the land of sea giants.

Al Bithnah Fort
Bithnah Fort is an ancient fort located in the village of Al Bithnah near the city of Fujairah in UAE. Situated along the Fujairah Main Highway, it is one of the oldest forts in the UAE and among the popular historical places in Fujairah. Built-in the year 1735, Al Buthna Fort was constructed to monitor the strategic paths that crossed the Hajar Mountains through Wadi Ham. This is the second-largest and most famous fort in Fujairah for its long history of wars and battles that took place in the region at the end of the 18th century and early 19th century. The fort was considered of vital importance for defending the eastern region of the United Arab Emirates.
