Inside the Sete Cidades volcano, we stopped in the center of the parish for a well-deserved break. During this break, you can decide to include a delicious buffet made up of several typical dishes from the region in your tour (not included, talk to your guide), explore this picturesque place, stroll along the edge of the lagoon or even go canoeing. In the center of the parish, the church of São Nicolau, normally decorated with natural flowers, invites you to visit.

The natural cuisine of the Azores is here! Visit Parque das Caldeiras and learn how the locals cook, using holes in the ground heated by volcanic heat. The famous "Cozido das Furnas" is made here. Take the opportunity to stroll among the boilers and fumaroles and watch the cooking pots being removed from the holes.
Time for a break! Take advantage of this break at Lagoa das Furnas for lunch (lunch not included, contact us if you wish to include a cooked lunch) or discover a magnificent Gothic-style chapel, find all kinds of information about fauna and flora and photograph the various statues carved with a chainsaw during the woodcarving festival held on the shore of the lake.

Amazing tour, and tour guide Andrea was excellent 👌! She did all she could for us to feel comfortable and happy! You get to see many things around the island. Recommend to get the lunch option as it's real good!

This was a wonderful way to see the island! Would recommend bringing a raincoat and wearing layers as the weather can be unpredictable (at least in April). Also, don’t forget a swimsuit (and towel!) on the day you visit Furnas (could be either day as they alternate). You’ll see some incredible views and learn a lot about Sao Miguel!

Each day was a beautiful, magical day in and of itself. Be prepared for any type of weather, but overall, they will adjust as necessary and make it the most pleasant, amazing experience that will make your trip unforgettable. Being able to see all that we saw and hearing the stories with this tour is what makes it so special. I had two different tour guides for my two days, and both were exceptional.

San Miguel: 2 Full-Day Pack - West & East Island Highlights Tour (Azores) I took this tour in April 2025 in San Miguel Island and I had a very nice time. Our local guide and driver Andrea from I go Azores was amazing and very knowledgeable about her island! The weather was very bad during our first day (fog and rain). We could not see much and the company offered us an additional free evening 4-hour tour to the thermal pools! On our next day we could enjoy the beautiful views (Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeiroes with waterfalls, Furnas Lake, Parque das Caldeiras). We visited a pineapple plantation and a tea factory with a nice park. They provided us with tasty lunches. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting San Miguel Island.

Make sure to get a real tourist guide who will explain everything and has a great knowledge about the place. Our guide/ driver served more than a driver than a guide. She just dropped us off in each place and waited for us inside the van. On our first day, we waited until past 9am, I called the tour operator and he assumed that we are going to start our tour on March 17 and 18 instead of March 16 and 17. Before our tour started, he sent me a message if I could adjust the date and I said, I will agree if I am going to be reissued with a new ticket and he never acknowledged the conversation nor messaged me back again. On the day of the tour after waiting until past 9am, I called him and he said" I thought you agreed to change the date and I am not Viator, I am the tour operator and I don't issue the ticket". I insisted that i want to start my tour on that day March 16 so he arranged for a guide that arrived almost 10am. Another issue that was resolved was the paid lunches for 2 days. The guide was insisting that lunch is not included while in fact it is clearly written in the voucher. She was insisting that all the tickets are issued like that. I messaged the tour operator that I paid the amount with lunch included and he responded that it was verified and yes, lunch is included and I was reimbursed from the charges I paid on the first day. I don't understand why i have to go to all these hustles instead of starting my day in a good spirit.First day, it would have been better if it wasn't raining on and off. The second day was better with the sun shining and there was only sporadic rain in the afternoon.
