We drive from village Inari about 20 min to our home. On the way we can see beautiful landscape of lake Muddus, wilderness area Muotkatunturi and river Kettujoki (weather permitting). We live near wilderness area Muotkatunturi which is like a “second living room” to us. Our place is tranquil; we even cannot see the lights of our nearest neighbor. Upon arrival you get to know more about our home and lifestyle in the Arctic where bush craft skills are part of everyday life. Our snowshoe walk takes you into the ancient woods along lakes and mystic mires. The forest we see belongs to the oldest forests in Lapland. During the walk we observe possible animal tracks and nearby feeding birds. Siberian Jay and Siberian Tit are commonly around and with good luck we might see even Elk and Mountain Hare during the walk. By mid-February or early March we start looking for first Pine Grosbeaks to return. You also learn about the importance of the snow for the arctic life. Before transfer back to Inari we enjoy open-fire hot drink and local snacks in our kota.

Well organized tour. We were picked up in time at our cottage. The guide was very friendly and helpful. We were warmly received. She knew how to tell very interesting things about nature, surroundings and the Sami people. After the walk we got homemade bread with cheese and reindeer sausage which we roasted over a fire. Finnish coffee and a homemade muffin with Finnish berries finished it off. We were then dropped off at the destination of our choice.

What a perfect start of our trip to Lapland! Terhi is a friendly, knowledgable guide. We really enjoyed the well organized activity with a lot of new information and knowledge about nature (plants, trees, vegetation and wildlife). We did the snowshoe walk at the first day of our trip. This helped us to see and understand a lot more about the nature/environment which we visited the days after the snowshoe walk. It once again created more awareness about the consequences of climate change as well. Her English was excellent and my son (11 years) was old enough to join and really enjoyed it (I would not recommend to take too young kids, although that depends on their span of attention of course ;) but if you have questions on this, Terhi is really willing to answer them). Also the amount of people joining (max. 6) was perfect. At the end of the trip we had some nice coffee/tea with a bun around the inside campfire, while watching the birds fly by. What a hospitality both by Terhi and Arto!

Theri & Arto gave us a warm welcome. This walk was only happiness because of a beautiful landscape. Luckily, the snow was falling which made this walk all the more magical! Throughout, Theri shared with us her knowledge of the flora and fauna that she seems to cherish from the bottom of her heart. It’s good to see that there are still people like that.... Especially since she took care to speak to us in French when she could. When we warmed up and restored by the fire, we had the chance to see very closely, various species of birds (4) as well as a small squirrel. What a chance to successfully close such a good time shared. A big thank you to Theri & Arto for which I really feel grateful for these magical moments. I don’t know if I’ll have the chance to come back to Lapland next time but if I do, then I won’t hesitate to come back and see you. Thank you! Yes, sir. Charlotte & Céline (FRANCE)

Arto and Terhi are very passionate about their work and they share their knowledge very generously. We learned a lot and also had a lot of fun during the snowshoe walk. I am now able to recognize red fox and hare tracks and it brings a lot of joy during hikes. Also the food was delicious. We highly recommend!

Exploring the ancient forest with Terhi is really an amazing experience! We’re admiring her knowledge of her own beloved land. Watching the birds, identifying plants and hearing all her stories of Lapland nature has never get us bored! 4 hours snowshoeing fast quickly! I wish we could do all day 😀 If you love nature and want something different and unique for your Lapland trip, you should join this experience!!

We did the snowshoe walk on an unexplored wild nature and it was a magical experience. Arto and Terhi made us feel very welcome from the beginning when we booked the activity. They are a wonderful couple and both passionate about nature. We learnt a lot with Terhi about the local nature, flora and fauna, the local people and Sami’s culture. After the walk we had a tasty snack and tea around the fire and we could see some species of birds. It was the last activity we did during our holidays in Inari but it was definitely the best. Thank you very much!

We had fantastic day with our guide Terhi, she really looked after us and ensured we got the best of her expertise in identifying the local fauna and flora. She fitted us out with snowshoes and boots perfectly. At the end of the walk we had a superb light lunch of local produce in a traditional fire hut all the time observing the wildlife. I thoroughly recommend this excursion with Terhi for anyone who wants to experience nature. Pickup and drop off from our hotel was flawless.

This was a highlight of our visit to northern Finland and a really special experience. Terhi and Arto are a wonderful couple who care deeply about the environment and want to share their knowledge and experience of the local flora and fauna with their guests. It was akin to spending time with a couple of friends and we learned so much. We can’t recommend ATNature enough and Arto and Terhi go the extra mile to provide you with an experience to remember. A wonderful snowshoe walk was topped off with a coffee, a cheese and moose toasted snack and a home cooked muffin in their lovely cabin, heated up over a real fire. We thoroughly recommend this experience. If you are an independent traveler it really is worthwhile supporting smaller independent businesses. You certainly won’t be disappointed with AT Nature.

We had a wonderful introduction to Finnish nature (flora and fauna) with Terhi, and our first snowshoe excursion. Afterwards, we had afternoon tea or coffee and a tasty snack with Terhi and Arto in their special wilderness hut, around an open fireplace. While driving us back to Inari, Arto explained about the northern lights, which they can also arrange as a tour. We had a really special time with Terhi and Arto learning about Finnish Lapland, which we will never forget. We totally recommend this tour!

Thanks to Terhi and Arto for their extreme kindness. The snowshoe hike with Terhi was fascinating. She knows how to transmit her passion for nature. The snack at the end, prepared at home with local products and by the fire, was pure joy! This visit was the best we have had in Lapland. We will remember it for a long time!
