Here at Ohana Surf Project our biggest priority is SAFETY! Our coaches and guides are professional, trained in safety (CPR, lifeguard, first aid), and friendly.
We strive to provide the best service to every person who chooses to join us on the water and we welcome their loved ones who come along to support them as well. We are passionate about what we do and specialize in three ways of teaching you how to glide across the water: surf, stand up paddle and bodyboard. All of our staff members have been in the business for many years and are some of the finest instructors in the industry. We love what we do and we enjoy working together, as a team and as ohana, to make our students feel safe, comfortable, and successful.
We look forward to welcoming you into our ohana and showing you the aloha spirit that has kept each of us here in Hawaii-- enjoying life & good company, respecting the 'aina (our mother earth), having fun and staying active.

Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel, and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time
If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to take a remedy you are accustomed to using about an hour before the lesson (talk to your doctor for recommendations).
All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Chinese speaking-instructors without enough advance notice.
Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki. Exact pick-up location and time will be emailed to you by the supplier. If you do not receive these details 24 hours prior to your lesson, please contact Ohana Surf Project.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

What To Expect
Hop on the Surf School Bus! Enjoy our complimentary Waikiki shuttle to the Ohana Surf Center at the Waikiki Beach Marriott. Ride in our clean, air-conditioned yellow bus or white shuttle van with our logo. After check-in, gear-up, and a quick safety briefing, we’ll shuttle you to the beach. Meet your instructor, discuss your experience and comfort level, then head to the ocean with your high-quality board. Once you're ready, we hit the water! After your lesson, return to the Surf Center to view photos, videos, and shop merch—then we’ll shuttle you back to your drop-off location.

Family Lesson Requirements: Must include at least one child 12 or younger & 1 parent. All participants must be able to swim and paddle their own boards.
Pickup included
Open Group (1hr)
Duration: 1 hour
Requirements: All participants must be 13 years or older and able to swim. This is a shared experience with other students.

Requirements: All participants must be 13 years or older and able to swim. Two students with one instructor.

We had so much fun learning to surf and catching our first waves together. I absolutely recommend Ohana Surf Project to anyone who wants to try surfing, it’s such a great vibe. 5.00This was my first time taking a surfing lesson and it exceeded my expectations. I honestly thought we would not spend as much time in the water as we did which was great! The lesson was quick and effective in learning how to surf. The instructors were kind and encouraging. 10/10 recommend!

5.00The experience was amazing. There were many surf instructors on hand and they were all so helpful. We caught so many waves as beginners. Shout out to Cole for being so patient and overall a great guy and instructor! Cherry on top was that they had a guy taking pictures and videos during the whole process. I would definitely recommend these guys!

5.00My 9 year old Son wanted to try surfing for the first time. Ohana Surf Project did a great job. My Son is not a great swimmer, yet, and they ensured us that was not a problem and he could wear a life jacket if he wanted. We booked a 1 hour lesson and the instructor, McKenna, was excellent and very patient. My Son had a great time and wants to do it again when we return. I highly recommend Ohana Surf Project!! They even have a free shuttle that picks you up and return you to the hotel.

5.00I was extremely satisfied with my private surfing lesson. The availability was excellent, with spots open as soon as the next day, and all the staff members were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Safety was always the top priority, with a helpful video provided beforehand and all the necessary equipment ready for me. My instructor was very patient and genuinely showed that he cared about my progress, making the experience feel like a true surf school. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning how to surf.
