At Forest Lagoon, we believe that truly unforgettable experiences are created through thoughtful details. Nestled in the heart of Vaðlaskógur forest and overlooking one of Iceland’s longest fjords, Eyjafjörður, this geothermal spa offers a rare blend of serenity, nature, and modern comfort. Surrounded by birch and pine trees, guests are invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with the calming energy of the forest. The lagoon features two geothermal pools. The larger pool (530 m²), kept at a soothing 37°C (98.6°F), includes three swim-up bars and a convenient indoor entrance. The smaller pool (330 m²) maintains the same relaxing temperature, offering a quieter space to unwind. Enhance your experience in the Finnish-style dry sauna, where temperatures reach around 80°C with low humidity. From here, enjoy panoramic views of Eyjafjörður and the surrounding mountains. For the ultimate refresh, step into the nearby cold pool, cooled to 11°C (51.8°F), and discover the invigorating benefits of hot and cold contrast bathing. Complete your visit at the Forest Bistro, a wood-clad dining space with fjord views and a cozy indoor fireplace

Despite the huge geothermal resources, it is evident that Iceland does not have a great spa culture and the Forest Lagoon is an example. Recently built, but quite small, with very few pools and only one sauna. Totally missing water jets, whirlpools and other similar points. The view isn't great. Ultimately, the price is very high for what it offers.

It was so good we went there twice :) Amazing views and staff. Cocktails were nice and everything was very clean. Just a warning that when you book the 10pm slot the pool and bar closes at 11:30pm which we were not warned about. It is a custom to shower naked before going in and when coming out of the pool, but there are shower cubicles for the people that would rather have privacy. Only one cubicle for changing. This didn’t bother us but it may bother some. It is an experience that you have to do when visiting Akurayri :) We had the first drink free with the and and additional drinks were around the £4-£10 mark which is reasonable enough.

Very relaxing, very calming…except for that cold plunge! But certainly very enjoyable place to unwind amongst the natural pines in the thermal bath areas and saunas overlooking Akureyri and the ski slopes at dusk.

Very nice lagoon, very quiet, we went during the day and there were never more than 20 other guests in the complex. Locker rooms are nice and they had 2 of the bars open. We stayed for several hours, very relaxing and had great views when the sun was out. Bring your own towel. The showering is standard across Iceland pools and clear on their website

It's exactly as it shows on the website, beautiful and stunning. Staff were great, greeted us and informed us of what to expect. Less than 20 others in the lagoon, the sauna was perfect. Can highly recommend going in Nov.

Hands down my favorite hot spring/lagoon in the entirety of Iceland. Beautiful wooded surroundings, crystal clear hot water, incredibly friendly staff, and an all-around wonderful atmosphere.

Wasnt sure what to expect but hey ho - part of our trip so why not try eh ? The changing facilities are not for the feint hearted as you literally change in front of grown adults and children but i didnt mind , just warning those of a more nervous dosposition . I believe there are private changing rooms though . Fab facilities and great experience ,especially the hotter pools . Special thanks for Unnur in the bar area who was a lovely person to chat to . Also , hidden secret , cheapest wine in Akureyri during Happy Hour and delicious traditional lamb soup .

Very accommodating and not as crowded as other lagoons in Iceland. Lockers provided for clothing. And drink included was a nice touch.

Be prepared to shower naked with other women before entering the lagoon. There are a few private showers but not many so you will have to wait. Off season the bus runs only on the hour. Coming back to catch the cruise ship the cab that was requested never showed up. Fortunately the bus started going back and forth more frequently. The lagoon is delightful and much less expensive than Blue or Sky lagoons. The drink I had was delicious! Very relaxing!
