Tour starting in TeAnau is perfect. Sasha our tour guide was a local walking encyclopedia. Sasha timed our stops perfectly & offered a wealth of information the entire day. We could not have been happier with the tour!

Stephen took us for an amazing trip to Milford sound and he has been super friendly and knowledgeable throughout. I have learned a lot from the experience and also enjoyed every moment on the vehicle and every location we stopped for photos.

This was far and away our favorite experience in New Zealand. Jason was an incredible guide with Fiordland Tours. Along our drive to our Milford Sound Cruise, we stopped in a handful of the most stunning locations I've ever seen. We had our morning coffee and tea along with homemade muffins along a creek in a lupine field overlooking the mountains, and on the way home, we hiked to a waterfall and filled our water bottles directly from the river. Jason was happy to answer our questions, share recommendations with us, and share his expertise. We loved hearing his stories throughout our exploration, and he took great photos of us to help us remember our trip. I can't recommend Fiordland Tours enough. We were in a smaller van (16 of us in total) as opposed to a huge tourbus, which allowed for a much more intimate, relaxed, and responsive experience. Jason was flexible with our tour, switching around our stops so we wouldn't be in overly crowded locations, and allowing for time to search for wildlife. We were also on a smaller cruise ship- big enough that we didn't get seasick but small enough that you had space on the upper deck to get close to waterfalls and have a spectacular view. We also had a fabulous packed lunch- a sandwich, fruit, a chocolate bar, juice, coffee, and cheese and crackers. We stayed in Manapouri which was a quick 15 minute drive from Te Anau- we were able to meet up with the tourbus in the morning and easily park for free for the day.

  • The best way to see Milford

Te Anau is the perfect place to visit Milford Sound from. Take the tour rather than drive. It’s so much more relaxing and everything is organised for you. Take the lunch option to!
