We had Pancho as a full-day guide in Hiroshima and Miyajima. Pancho contacted us the day before via WhatsApp and picked us up directly from our Shikansen wagon. His English is very good & understandable. He showed us and explained all the relevant sights in Hiroshima & on Miyajiima & always recognized exactly whether we wanted more or less explanation. For lunch he gave us a very good recommendation of a restaurant according to our wishes. In the evening he accompanied us to the Shikansen again. We had a great day & Pancho made a significant contribution to this - thank you!

Hi Pancho, This is the review I wrote, but I cannot post it on Viator because I did not book it on that website. I tried to post it on toursbylocals (where I booked your tour) but did not see how to do it. If you have any advice about how to get it on Viator please let me know. Thank you for a memorable day. Review: We had the absolute pleasure of spending a day in Hiroshima and Miyajima with our incredible guide, Pancho, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Traveling as a family of four with two teens, we were grateful for Pancho’s warm welcome and seamless organization from the moment he met us right at the door of our Shinkansen train from Kyoto. Pancho expertly guided us across trains, trams, and ferries, making what could have been a complicated day of travel feel effortless. On Miyajima Island, he gave us a rich, immersive tour of the iconic floating torii gate, the Itsukushima Shrine, and the beautiful Daisho-in Temple. Pancho pointed out many hidden details and shared thoughtful explanations that brought the sites to life in a way we never could have experienced on our own. Back in Hiroshima, we were deeply moved by our visit to the Peace Park, Ground Zero, and the A-Bomb Dome. Pancho’s knowledge, empathy, and personal connection—sharing the story of his own grandparents’ survival—added a powerful, human dimension to the experience that we will never forget. Pancho was kind, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and sensitive to the needs and pace of our family throughout the day. We cannot recommend him highly enough to anyone visiting Hiroshima and Miyajima. This was more than a tour—it was a meaningful and unforgettable journey.

Then you go to peace park, see the A-bomb dome, and the epicenter. Thank you so much Pancho for the great day we had together!!! Best tour in Japan!!!

Pancho is a thoughtful, knowledgeable guide with an intimate connection to Hiroshima. He took me through the city, helping avoid the overly congested areas that typical tour guides make you slog through. Our day ended on Miyajima Island. Thanks to Pancho’s local expertise, I was able to secure a rare early bird ticket to the Miyajima Ropeway on one of the few days of the year that requires advance reservation. Thank you Pancho!

Excellent tour! Pancho met us at our hotel. We first toured ground zero, hotel was near, then travelled to Miyajima island. He knew the island well, took us to, and explained well, the religous and historical aspects of the temples very well. We were going to see it on our own. If we had, we would have missed 90% of the experience. Then good sushi lunch and a comprehensive tour of Peace Park. He put in very good perspective the effects of the bombing from a Japanese perspective without any editorialising. He was knowledgible, very pleasant, and fun to be with. The tour was well worth the price and we strongly recommend both taking the tour and recommend Pancho. Very good day!

Absolutely excellent! Pancho is a Hiroshima native who has a deep knowledge of all the sites we visited. He is an excellent communicator who responds to emails and texts in a very timely fashion. A member of our party had a knee injury and Pancho went to extra lengths to ensure a wheelchair was available for parts of the tour ( be prepared to do a good 12-15 k steps on this tour!) He listened carefully to our interests and planned a flawless tour. Be sure to ask him to take you to a Hiroshima Okonomiyaki restaurant: you won't regret it. Overall we felt very lucky to have this really nice guy as our tour guide who really strived to ensure that our tour was enjoyable.. Highly recommend without reservations.

If you’re considering a tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima, don’t hesitate to contact Pancho as your guide. He is in a league of his own. On Miyajima, Pancho guided us through the iconic Itsukushima Shrine with its breathtaking floating torii gate. But what made the tour even more special was that Pancho took us to some of his favorite places on Miyajima. In Hiroshima, Pancho guided us through through the city to see ground zero, A-Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park. While the sites themselves are incredibly moving, Pancho shared poignant stories about his parents and grandparents who were in Hiroshima the day the bomb dropped on the city and the people behind the monuments, giving us a deeper connection to the history. He spoke with such care and reverence that it truly brought the events of the past into vivid perspective. I left the tour not only with incredible memories but also with a new friend. Thank you, Pancho, for sharing your knowledge, passion, and your favorite places with us. You made our journey truly unforgettable!

Our family took Pancho’s tour - ages from the 20’s to 60’s - we all found it incredibly enriching and entertaining (when appropriate). Pancho is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, gave us options yet seemingly effortlessly kept us on a schedule - providing direction along the way for the best experience. Many thanks to Pancho for a profound experience and sharing your family’s stories. We hope to see you again on future tours!
