What To Expect

Potamies

Our first stop is the verdant one and one of the representative villages of Crete, Potamies. We will be guided to a traditional farm where we will see the milking of animals and local activities such as cheese making. There we will taste traditional products such as fresh cheese, olive oil & rakomelo!

Aposelemis Dam

Next stop is the Aposelemis dam, the largest water supply project in Crete. The village of Sfendili is submerged in the waters of the dam with its impressive old houses fading on the surface of the water. Also a natural wetland with a variety of birds.

A great way to see authentic Crete. Milking a goat, ceramics, olive oil, windmills, vultures. Some beautiful rural villages and our guide Nikos was fantastic - knowledgeable and entertaining. Partly off road, with spectacular views and scenery. Nice lunch too in a traditional Taverna. Highly recommended.

It was a cool tour, the guides were great Nikos always had the right music at the start and knew an answer to all questions. Unfortunately the cave of Zeus was closed for construction work, but the big and small children were allowed to potter and we were still in an olive oil mill.

This tour offered a hotel pickup. My hotel was selected and the tour operator confirmed the pickup location and time. I arrived 10 minutes before pickup time. At the designated time, no transportation appeared. Tour operator was contacted and they informed that the original pickup point had been changed. I was never advised of the change and never informed where to monitor any possible change. Tour operator has refused any refund or compensation. My request to have this decision reviewed has been completely ignored. This is as close to a scam as it gets. At a minimum, communication is very poor. Always had a great experience with Viator in the past. What a shame Viator!

Such an astonishing experience! We performed the expedition with Dimitri (French speaking) and Minos (German speaking). There was a great ambiance and feeling of friendship with the staff. It took us around 8-9 hours to perform the full activity. This included picking up other tourists at their respective hotels. We did a road trip through a fair part of the island, while doing several stops on sites that you would not necessarily think about. This included sympathizing with goats and cats, doing some pottery, taking marvelous pictures, and so on. The cave of Zeus was unfortunately closed by the government, therefore, our trip was merged with another group, and this effort was greatly appreciated.

Marios and Manos what a pair of drivers, very knowledgeable, really fun chaps! It was entertaining lots of laughing as well as very informative. A mix of German/English. Thoroughly recommended.
