Hiroshima
Come explore the gentle world of moss in our cozy garden. In Japan, moss isn’t just a plant—it’s part of the culture. Did you know Japan has around 1,800 types of moss? That’s nearly one-tenth of all the moss in the world! Moss grows slowly, but over time it creates soft, green carpets that feel like nature’s magic. How many kinds can you spot in our garden? Let’s take a look together.

I joined Naomi’s fantastic and thoughtful tour, and it was a truly great experience. Her authentic Japanese-style house was amazing — it has 200 years of history, but has been renovated so it feels almost new while still keeping a retro atmosphere. She shared her Japanese lifestyle, which is simple and genuine, giving us a real glimpse into everyday Japan. Lunch was Japanese-style curry and rice, which I absolutely loved. The highlight of the tour was definitely spending time in the garden, which is part of her house. The garden is covered with beautiful moss, like a natural carpet — I almost fell asleep on it! Taking the time to observe the moss was surprisingly interesting. If you want to experience real Japanese life in the countryside, I highly recommend this tour.

I was swayed by the train from Hiroshima station and had no time to imagine what it would be like, so I was relieved to see Naomi welcoming me with a smile from the moment I arrived. The house I visited was 200 years old, quaint, cool in summer, and full of fun and peaceful air. The time spent drinking tea and listening to moss was more enjoyable and instructive. Do you usually think about moss? I was captivated when I peeked into that mysterious world against a background of many moss. The garden was amazing and my 1-year-old daughter was impressed by the many greens she had never seen before. It is a very heartwarming feeling to be welcomed warmly by all my family. It was truly a great memory. I'll be back.

I had a wonderful time with my guide Naommy. I got very warm welcome first when I arrived at the house by her beautiful children and her very traditional old house called Kominka. When I first looked at the area of her, I just fell in love with the scenery. It was really nicely quiet, surrounded by beautiful tree and moss, and perfect weather! She served me very tasty maccha and some sweets, and traditional Japanese dishes for the lunch that we cooked together. The tea experience in the beautiful garden was also really amazing. I think this is one of the highlight of my trip in Hiroshima. Hiroshima is not just about peace park and miyajima, you should definitely visit the rural area like this. And I strongly recommend this tour with Naommy san!
