Kyudo is a Japanese martial art based on shooting an arrow from a Japanese bow to a target to reach a complete focus of mind and body. The main difference of kyudo and western archery is that, in kyudo, every movement follows a traditional routine that pays respect to the equipment and to the opponent. You will come to the archery range and dress in an authentic kyudo uniform, which will include dogi—the upper wear—and hakama—the lower wear. I'll give a brief explanation about the art of kyudo as well as instructions and demonstrations. With the knowledge you'll gain, you will learn to shoot arrows at the target. You'll also understand the fun and challenging aspect of the sport, particularly while wearing the traditional hakama and armor. Usually in kyudo, you are not allowed to pull the arrow unless you master the basics. But during our lesson, you will be able to enjoy the real kyudo experience even as a complete beginner. It will be a great time if you are looking for a nice photo or movie to show to your friends.

5.00If you are in Hiroshima, do this! One of the highlights of my 3 week trip. And if you think your experience with standard recurve bows is a leg up, you are in for a rude awakening 😜

5.00What an amazing experience, and hosted by very patient and helpful staff. We got to shoot a lot of arrows and have a bunch of fun photos taken. Only caveat: difficult to find the venue.

5.00This was fantastic. I felt the respect that the staff/owners had for the art, and this translated into an experience that felt genuine. And it was fun, and at only an hour in length meant everyone in our group was engaged the whole time. They only take 4 people maximum at a time, so you have lots of attention. We don't speak Japanese so we used a translating app to communicate, which worked well and was fine with us. The staff explained a bit about the history of archery which was cool. Just great, would give 7 stars out of 5 if I could.

5.00The class was very didactic, the monitor and his assistants were very friendly and friendly. They explained step by step how to perform the shooting technique. In the end we did a little competition between those of us who were there. A very enriching experience.

5.00If you walk around the city a little bit. You will notice that archery is a huge part of the culture in Hiroshima. So why not get a taste? I am traveling alone and I had a blast doing this. I could easily see this as a fun experience for the whole family. They have 4 targets, so for any groups larger than that, they'd probably have to share targets (take turns). The staff there is fun and entertaining. When I come back to Hiroshima, I will 100% be doing this again.

5.00Very cool experience. The coach was very patient and it was really fun. Even if the communication was not so easy, everything worked very well. Even without experience in archery it was a great experience. In addition, they took really cool photos and videos of us!

4.00A great experience. We had 5 people so it was a shame the max no of persons was 4, but the experience was great. Felt like 1 on 1 teacher/student. A unique exposure to a traditional japanese art form. Highly reccomend.

5.00I had a great time learning about and practicing Japanese Archery. It was important to follow the rules and this resulted in hitting the target on quite a few occasions. Would be a great hour spent solo or with family.
