I enjoyed the experience. Only trouble I had was exact location. I arrived in the right area, it could have been me, and my understanding of the address, so it would be in my part. But aside from that it was an enjoyable experience

Fusina, our instructor, was awesome! This class was a lot of fun, and a nice way to meet fellow travelers.

As instructed we arrived 15 minutes prior and host was irritated stating that the class begins at 11. We only made 2 Dutch pancakes for 4 people. Then followed by 4 small pieces of herring. However, her home was very clean. When class was completed we weren’t even given the option to use the bathroom. This does not qualify as a full lunch and left hungry. In my opinion this was definitely not worth the money.

My son and I had the best time making pancakes and learning about the Netherlands food and culture. The host was amazing and made us feel welcome right when we walked into her home. It was a highlight to our trip and I would recommend you do this if you ever visit Netherlands.

I was extremely disappointed with this cooking class—it felt like a complete waste of 182 euros for two people. The moment we walked in, the host immediately launched into a tirade about her antiques, warning us to “be careful with my antiques!!” This set the tone for the entire class, making me feel nervous and unwelcome. From the outset, when we introduced ourselves and mentioned we were Americans, her judgmental attitude became even more apparent. It quickly devolved into what felt like a “my country is better than your country” and quickly devolved into “I am better than you”, which was totally uncalled for. Rather than enjoying a fun, interactive class, we got a lecture on politics and superiority. Even the beverage service was off. We were offered the usual coffee, tea, water, and juice options, but when I asked about wine, she scoffed, saying something like, “I have wine and beer but it’s way too early for that!” all while giving a sour look that made me feel judged for my simple request. The class itself was a mess. We ended up making only two tiny pancakes—one apple and one bacon—and the entire process was marred by her constant criticisms. When the apple was nearly rotten and difficult to cut, she snapped, “The apples are being cut too thick, please cut them thinner or else we will have to use the whole apple,” even going so far as to flip the pancake over the sink instead of on the counter. Small talk quickly turned sour as well. When a majority of us admitted we didn’t usually cook, she shot us a judgmental glare and an awkward silence that only added to the tense atmosphere. I even shared that, due to my unpredictable work schedule in medicine, I often rely on quick meals like oatmeal, nuts, fruit, and eggs. Instead of understanding, she scoffed and made an unnecessary comment about my age, insinuating that I cannot continue to work that way for much longer. This was by far the worst cooking class I’ve attended—what was supposed to be a fun cultural experience turned into an uncomfortable, judgment-filled ordeal. Save your money and look elsewhere if you’re after a pleasant, engaging culinary lesson.

What a lovely way to spend a couple hours in Amsterdam. Our lovely hostess invited us into her home. There were a total of 5 of us. Three of us were flying solo and then a mother and daughter traveling together. It was not just about making pancakes. We had nice conversations with the hostess as she described the culture of Amsterdam and the Netherlands. We shared our experiences with her and the others as well. As a group, we did make dutch pancakes and ate them, along with other snacks she shared with us. It was a very nice time and good to connect with others from various backgrounds. It is well worth 2 hours and the price! Thank you!

The Dutch pancake making with Fusina was one of our absolute favorite memories our 2 week European vacation. There is something so special about being in such an intimate setting in the land that you are visiting. Fusina’s home was so pretty, right on the Amsterdam canals: We sat together in morning light of her artistic living room and we shared sweet stories before we started baking. She didn’t rush the experience. I asked my teen daughters what they loved about the Dutch Pancake morning and they said they loved how kind Fusina was and how she let them do the baking and flipping of the pancakes. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Fusina shared a memory that is much deeper than any souvenir, a life long memory for my daughters and I. Thank you for this special opportunity.

My friend and I booked this cooking class with Fusina on a trip to Amsterdam. We had an AMAZING time! Class size is limited as it takes place in Fusina’s house, which made for a very personalized experience. Fusina was a wonderful host and we got a chance to try a few local Dutch foods and learned a lot about Dutch culture. I highly recommend this class to all those who are interested in learning more about the Dutch culture and want to learn how to make a local Dutch recipe. If I ever make it back to Amsterdam, I would love to try one of her other experiences or even take this class again to learn more from her.
