Grand Egyptian Muesum
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) near the Giza Pyramids is a world-class facility showcasing over 100,000 artifacts from Egypt’s rich history. Highlights include the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures, displayed together for the first time, featuring his iconic golden mask, jewelry, and chariots. Visitors are greeted by the colossal statue of Ramses II and can explore monumental statues, sarcophagi, and tools spanning Egypt’s prehistoric to Islamic periods. Cutting-edge technology, like augmented reality and interactive displays, brings ancient artifacts to life, while panoramic views of the nearby pyramids enhance the experience. The museum also houses state-of-the-art conservation labs, thematic galleries, and family-friendly spaces like a children’s museum. Its stunning modern architecture, inspired by Egyptian motifs, blends history and innovation. A visit to GEM is a must for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the wonders of ancient Egypt.
Pyramids of Giza
The Pyramids of Giza, visible from outside their site, are awe-inspiring monuments symbolizing ancient Egypt’s grandeur. Built over 4,500 years ago, they served as royal tombs for pharaohs of the Old Kingdom. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest, was once the tallest structure on Earth and is a masterpiece of engineering with over 2.3 million limestone blocks. The smaller Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure stand alongside it, with Khafre’s pyramid appearing taller due to its elevated position. Nearby, the Great Sphinx, a colossal limestone statue with a lion’s body and a pharaoh’s head, guards the complex. These monuments showcase the Egyptians’ advanced knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, and construction. Even from a distance, the pyramids’ precise geometry, massive scale, and alignment with celestial events leave visitors in awe, making them a must-see wonder of the ancient world.

The museum is enormous, but super elegant, and the iconic Tutankamon-collection and the other amazing treasures of Egypt are displayed a way that made the whole family of six (from 17-60) want to learn more and more … Our desire to take in so much could have been a challenge but our excellent guide Dooa combines the joy of storytelling, smiling charm and deep knowledge with gentle efficiency, navigating the group smoothly through this wonderful world heritage. Thank you for a fantastic day!

We had an incredible 4 days with Hosny exploring all the sites of Cairo and Alexandria and I would 100% recommend him to anyone coming to Cairo. Hosny shared so much passion about his country, and had so much knowledge about every place we went. He made everything super easy and was super flexible with working around flight delays and our group sometimes taking a bit longer at certain places. A big highlight was the pyramids and the Great Egyptian Museum- which he could share so much about due to his great knowledge of all things Egypt. Also huge credit to the incredible driver we had- who navigated the streets like a professional and made everything super convenient.

The Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo is impressively large, with vast halls and countless displays that can easily fill several hours of exploration. The building’s modern design and spacious layout make wandering through its collections a memorable experience, and having quicker entry simply helped start the visit more smoothly so there was more time to enjoy the museum itself.

Honsy was an incredible informative guide who stepped myself and the family through the key artefacts at the museum with a succinct overview of the history of Egypt. We loved every minute of it and throughly recommend a tour given the museum is a little dated as far as being interactive. Thanks Honsy for welcoming my family to Egypt on our first day with your warmth.
