Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine
Visit Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, home to the iconic Chureito Pagoda, a five-story structure perched on a mountainside with Mount Fuji as a breathtaking backdrop. Built in 1963 as a peace memorial, the pagoda is part of the Arakura Sengen Shrine complex, accessible by climbing nearly 400 steps.

5.00On our spectacular Mt. Fuji tour, we went to many sites that had amazing views of the mountain, along with a peaceful Shinto shrine. Some highlights included a pagoda that towered over Fuji and eight incredibly clean and clear ponds associated with Japanese legends. We learned a lot from our guide, Aki, who drove us to each site. We could talk about anything with him related to Japan, and he told us engaging and funny stories. Thank you so much, Aki!

5.00I am currently in the car back from this tour and wanted to make sure I rated it highly before forgetting. For the first half of the trip we visited some of what seemed like standard tourist destinations around the mountain, they were extremely beautiful (there’s a reason they’re standard!) but quite crowded. In the afternoon I asked for us to detour to a beautiful, off the beaten path spot I read about which was just incredible. Our driver rolled with it and made the change work. I can’t imagine our trip to Japan without a day trip like this, and they did a great job making it memorable and unique. Five stars for sure.
