After meeting your expert guide, your small group will bypass the general admissions line to enter the museum’s magnificent collections. You will begin your crash course by learning about the salons of Paris in the 19th century which determined the “quality” of an artist’s work. Once you have a strong base in what the elite were looking for in art, you will learn about one of the first rebels in the museum, Manet. Then, head upstairs with your guide to explore the impressionist collection, housing works of art by artists like Monet, Renoir, Degas, Valadon, and Lautrec. See how these artists fed off of each other; whilst being outsiders and miscreants of the elite art scene at the time. Finally, you will learn about the tragic life of Van Gogh through an analysis of his most famous paintings. To allow you the chance to explore more of the museum on your own, you will finish in the post-impressionism wing, allowing you to explore more or exit the museum.

Musee d'Orsay
The Musée d’Orsay has been ranked the best museum in world for six years straight and is a must-see when in the city of lights. Housing a collection spanning from 1848 to 1914, the Orsay museum offers insight into one of the most tumultuous periods in human history. From the invention of tubes of paint, to trains, to electricity, this time period forever changed society and the world. Let your expert guide weave you through the collections, including impressionists such as Monet and Renoir to post impressionists like Vincent Van Gogh. You will learn about more than just techniques as the relationships among the artists in this time period are just as important as their work. You will get to see world-renowned masterpieces and, hopefully, some unexpected treasures, too!

Adam was the best. He kept things moving, his knowledge was scholarly and entertaining so understanding the art, artist and influence of how and what was happening during that time period to what we see today make a lot more sense which takes us to the why. It’s always nice to connect the why. Thank you Adam!

There are different qualities of excellent tour guides, the tour with Violette was once again outstanding among them. She is likely to speak fluent multiple languages, her English is perfect, uncomplicated museum presentation with headphones, incredible detail knowledge, humorous & very likeable manner. Overall, the 2.5 hours in the Musee d'Orsay have passed like in flight, and in the end you already want to book the next tour with her.. absolute recommendation !!!

Adam was insightful, engaging, sincere, and extremely knowledgeable - a true Canadian and an amazing guide. I couldn't recommend the Musee D'Orsay - an amazing glimpse of a pivotal time period, or Team Adam - enough. If I could give six stars, I would.

Adam is a brilliant tour guide. He is a wonderful communicator who captivated us with his depth of knowledge, his passion for art and his natural ability as a teacher. Unlike most tour guides, Adam frequently asked questions and this interaction ensured that we learned so much and will view art differently from now on. He is also an entertainer whose wit and repartee ensured many laughs. He's the best!!!

This was an exceptional experience. We can’t thank Adam enough for sharing his deep knowledge and evident passion for the Expressionist paintings at the Musée d’Orsay. Adam is more than a guide, he’s a gifted teacher who brings the art and its creators vividly to life. His insights added richness and meaning to every piece we encountered. I couldn’t recommend this tour with Adam more highly.
