This is a place relatively unknown to tourists even though it is one of the most important landmarks. Kerameikos means “ceramic”. It was called like that because there were many ceramic workshops here. It was also the cemetery of Athens for many centuries. In this place many prominent Athenians whose name are famous, were buried here! This is also where Pericles pronounced his famous “Epitaph” speech for the first casualties of the Peloponnesian war where he praises the virtues of Democracy and the ways of the Athenians.
We take an easy pace walk through the Flea market of Athens

This was an excellent tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided important context each step of the way. He was gracious about our taxi mishap and slight delay this morning. This is a valuable tour because it provides essential historical perspective for understanding and appreciating Athens and Athenians over time and the incredible contributions of philosophy and democracy and education they have made.

Pannos helped us learn the development of Athenian democracy and drew connections between the classical philosophers and modern science, and with a good sense of humor. This was rewarding!

We loved our tour with Panos! He was a fantastic guide. Not only was he so knowledgeable and informative, he was also very entertaining. My daughter who is a philosophy major in college greatly enjoyed the tour and also learned so much. I highly recommend this tour!

My hubby took our 15 and 21 year old sons on this tour with him. Here's his review: 'This tour was a great experience. Panos was our tour guide and he is extremely knowledgeable about the locations, history, and ideas that are covered by the tour. On this tour you will see a lot of the historical sights associated with early democracy and philosophy.' The boys enjoyed it as well :)
