This tour offers a spectacular afternoon and early evening out on the water, and will take you on a magical journey through the waters around Phang Nga bay, where you can witness the incredible natural wonder of bioluminescence and enjoy exhilarating sea canoeing activities. What exactly is bioluminescence you might ask! Well, this is the capacity of some creatures to emit light and can be found in numerous forms in the Phang Nga Bay area. One of the most noteworthy instances is the bioluminescent plankton present in the bay’s waters. These tiny organisms emit a bright blue-green light when disturbed, producing a captivating appearance in the water. The phenomenon is caused by chemical reactions within the plankton, which produce light as a by-product.

We enjoyed this trip very much, the bioluminescent plankton was amazing and very memorable stops at the floating village, caving, canoeing. Would have been even better if the weather was good enough for swimming, recommend aiming for a fine day/not raining. No alcohol due to Islands being mainly Muslim, but dinner was lovely.

We booked a tour, primarily because of bioluminescence in the title, but that was just the icing on the cake. First we boarded the Lisa8, a very fast boat, along with about 16 others and we zipped across the water to Koh Phanak and we went into a cave. We waded in water about knee-deep to enter the cave. The cave had some great stalactites, but the real delight was in the “walled” area just beyond the cave. A small stand of mangroves stood in the middle of the area surrounded by sheer rock face. Next up, we hopped back on board Lisa8 and went to Koh Hong where we transferred from the boat into kayaks paddled by local people. We sat back and absorbed the beauty all around us as someone else did the work. Next stop was James Bond Island made famous by the movie The Man With the Golden Gun. Following our brush with 007, Lisa8 raced across Phang Nga Bay to Ko Panyi, a floating fishing village established near the end of the 18th century where we had a delicious buffet dinner. If all the above wasn’t enough, we headed to another cave. The boat driver backed this large boat like he had a backup camera into the mouth of a cave. We all got off the boat and went were told to wade into the water a bit. Then he turned off all lights and said to move your feet in the water and it glowed! The glow, aka bioluminescence is the reaction of tiny organisms in the water - a reaction similar to fireflies. We spent the next fifteen minutes acting like little kids, moving in the water. My phone couldn’t capture the glow, but our guide shared a short video which was a reasonable representation of what we saw.

Unfortunately, I was really looking forward to this tour while solo traveling. The morning of, I started to show signs of food poisoning (which happens while traveling) and couldn't be on a boat away from land. I was hoping to feel better the next day and try to make it, but the team said they could not flex/offer postponement. You can get a refund with a medical note by 4pm that day, but given my condition was standard food poisoning and it was short notice, it wasn't realistic. So just keep in mind with booking, as it's not a cheap tour. Sad to have missed it.

Good trip overall, but the booking company really let us down. The experience itself was great and would have easily been 4–5 stars, but the booking company were incredibly difficult to deal with. They refused to pick us up from our actual address because they “couldn’t find it on Google Maps,” despite the fact that multiple taxis and tours have managed it with no problem. This meant we had to carry two car seats ourselves while travelling with two young children. To make matters worse, they locked our baby seats in their office, even though we repeatedly explained we needed them for the return journey. It caused completely unnecessary stress at the end of an otherwise lovely trip. The tour was amazing, but we’d strongly recommend booking it with a different provider to avoid the hassle.

Great experience and would recommend! We got picked up from our hotel on time and had a great driver. The crew was awesome on the boat as well. Went to all the spots and spent just the right amount of time there. Plenty of water and fruit as a snack on the boat. We got lucky and saw the plankton at the end of the tour. Would book again!

What a fabulous day! A lot is jam packed into the time so well worth the money. And we had perfect conditions to see the plankton, very cool. The dinner was tasty and the guides were excellent. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about this experience. The guide and crew could not have been any better. Our guide gave us important information and pointed out so many interesting things. When we stopped for the bioluminescent part, I opted not to get off the boat due to a previously injured knee and foot. One of the crew members kept filling up a bucket with water and bringing it to me so I could also observe the bioluminescent water. I was so touched by this. This kind of attention to detail does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. The guide sat with me for awhile and we had such an interesting conversation. They really treated us as friends. It was a wonderful and unforgettable day!

We have just come back from bioluminescent tour, and we absolutely loved it. Our tour guide, Kiki, was a star. Knowledgable with a. Great sense of humour who helped us take some stunning photos. A special shout out to crew members who were superb at navigating choppy waters and knew the route by heart even in the darkness. Also., a kayak rower was knowledgable and really helpful, a little rose ring that he made form a local plant was a nice touch! The food was great with plenty of snacks and drinks served during the journey. One of the best tours I have ever been on!

From start to end this was fantastic. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the dock. There was breakfast provided. You could go up as much as you liked, toast, croissants, biscuits and cereal. Juice and hot drinks also. Then we were on the tour we started by exploring caves which was so fun and lead to some amazing views and the guides were great at taking photos for us also. After this we went to James Bond island- again this was great and it started to rain but were provided with the plastic ponchos to keep. After this we canoed around Hong Island it was a low tide though so hard to see some places but still fantastic. Then we stopped for dinner at a lovely restaurant which had buffet style food- again we could go up as many times as we liked and finished with the bioluminescence.. which is so difficult to see at first and couldn’t take any pictures on phone camera as doesn’t show up. But it was a magical experience to witness the see glittering and glowing with every movement. On the boat itself we were provided with coke or water and fruits and had the opportunity to sit on the edge of it which was very fun. Overall an amazing experience, thank you!

This was by far our favorite adventure while visiting Phuket! Our two children, 9 and 6, had a great time. The boat was stable and after a 45 min ride, we went cave exploring, sea canoeing, and had a delicious dinner prepared for us. The last stop was seeing the glowing plankton. Sadly it's so hard to capture in a photo or video but we have the memories forever.
