Delphi was the cultural and religious heart of the Hellenic world. Set in a stunning landscape, once considered the center of the world, where, according to mythology, two eagles sent by Zeus to find the navel of the world, met. The site, once sacred to Mother Earth and guarded by the serpent Python, later became Apollo’s sanctuary, built by Cretans arriving at Kirrha (the port of Delphi) accompanied by the god in the form of a dolphin. Such myths were celebrated in the Delphic festivals, like the Pythia and the Delphinia, with music and athletic competitions. Explore unique monuments such as the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Stoa, and the Polygonal Wall with our expert guide, ensuring you don’t miss a thing.

A wonderful opportunity to explore and learn about the Oracle of Delphi. Our family realized it would be a long drive, once you get to the mountains, country "ski" town where we enjoyed an excellent lunch you will be glad you signed up for this trip. then you get to Delphi and are amazed at the antiquities, just specular!

Good tour, well organised, nice lunch. Vangelis was a great guide. It's not a complaint, but I would have been happy to start an hour earlier and had half an hour longer in the museum and at the archaeological site.

An excellent day. We had a fabulous guide in Vangelis who painted us a real picture of how Delphi fitted into the ancient world. He was very knowledgeable and passed this on in an accessible, enjoyable way. I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

John shared a lot of information throughout the day—and even managed to keep up with everyone on free museum day when sites were very crowded!

The walk to the theater and stadium was irregular and rocky. We are seniors and turned around because we were afraid if falling.

This was our first Tripadvisor experience (Oct. 8, 2025), and now we're hooked. Signing up for the trip was easy. The price was reasonable considering it required a few hours each way by motor coach, plus we also included the entrance tickets and meal, which was highly convenient. All the instructions and directions to reach the meeting starting point were clear and helpful. Our motor coach took us to Delphi, with a stop for bathroom break and refreshments. Upon arrival we first toured the museum and then the ruins. We had some time to explore the ruins on our own, but the time went by too quickly. We definitely could have spent more time at both. We stopped in Arachova, a small ski town near Delphi to have lunch and look around. The meal was outstanding and we had time to meet some of the other folks on the tour. We returned via motor coach to Athens with a rest stop on the way. The total trip was slightly longer than advertised, but not a problem. It was a short walk from the drop point back to our hotel. A special call out to our tour guide Dora. It is because of individuals like her that make a trip like this so enjoyable and meaningful. This tour was for English speakers and her command of the language was outstanding. She was very welcoming and accommodating. It was a pleasant atmosphere in the bus, museum and ruins. During the ride up to Delphi, she gave us lots of history about the nation and regions we passed through. This was much appreciated and helped prepare us for the tour of Delphi. Once we arrived, she took us to the major highlights in the museum, stopping and sharing the background and importance the various archaeological finds. At the ruins she spoke both as we walked but also stopped to point out the importance of the place, temples and how the Oracle of Delphi worked. Her presentation skills were wonderful and she was happy to take and answer all our questions. (Note: we did encounter interference and range limitations with the QuietVox.) Although it was a long day, I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to see more ancient Greek historical sites and curious about the roots of western civilizations. Thanks Tripadvisor for a great package and a superb tour guide!
