  • La Paz half day magic!

Such an incredible day! Alex and Toto (I know I spelled that incorrectly!) were both wonderful! Communication before our arrival via WhatsApp was perfect. Alex went out of his way to figure out how to pick us up at the cruise dock so we could skip the ride to/from town. The boat was clean and very well appointed. We felt safe and comfortable all day. Both Toto and Alex have extensive knowledge of the area and wildlife. Alex adjusted the day’s activities to suit us and our time constraints (we came into La Paz on a cruise ship and had to be back on board). We had lunch on board the boat - ceviche, tostadas, and local bread. Delicious! Book Alex!! He’s a gem

  • Amazing ! Don’t think twice, this is the one u want.

This was the best experience! I would recommend Alex and the captain any day! They do an amazing job in providing such a great experience. Both gentlemen are very knowledgeable and friendly. The entire excursion was nothing short of amazing. We have friends that have vertigo and friends that are also scared of the sea and let me tell u they felt so comfortable they were probably the ones that enjoyed themselves the most. We were able to bring food and drinks no problem. The ceviche that was provided for lunch was delicious and topped off with fruit, perfect! I look forward to returning and doing it all over again with them. I wouldn’t look anywhere else for an excursion.

Great boat ride. Alix was a wonderful host and the kids loved it. Very relaxing, everything was taken care of. Plus we saw pilot whales in action. So special!

Such a perfect day/experience. Private boat for family of four with 2 young boys, hosted by the most pleasant and knowledgeable host + boat captain, Alex and Toto (hope I spelled this right- apologies if not!). Alex spoke perfect English and Toto offered local insights via Alex. We saw dolphins, sea lions, crabs, pelicans, egrets, and a ton of different fish and coral. The hosts offered a perfect itinerary but also offered flexibility if we wanted to do other things. Boat was no frills but a great size and plenty comfortable. This was slightly pricier than a group ride but wayyy more comfortable and frankly more fun. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore Balandra Bay or the La Paz area. Just so good.

For context, I was a resident of La Paz and have taken many sea excursions. My dear friend, who organized this trip, raved about Alex and his incredible patience, communication, and flexibility in the process of scheduling -- it is a lot of moving parts to arrange dates, visitors, and a group to commit to a full-day adventure! Baja Reef Adventure's boat had ample shade coverage and plenty of seats. Alex provided water, snacks (Rice Krispies Treats for our group!), and a ceviche lunch (muy rico!) when we arrived at our picnic destination, a private beach known as Tecalandra. Alex's es muy amable -- he has a gentle way about his communication and is easy to be with and very responsive to the needs of the group i.e. sunscreen, stopping the boat, and putting the ladder up and down for in-water pee breaks, etc. For those who have not been on a sea excursion -- there are no toilets on the boat, nor any of the locations, because this is a full-on nature adventure. There is zero judgment in asking for what you need and making accommodations. We are human, after all! Communication and expectations were clear: 1h45 minutes to get to our first destination (with stops for Blue Footed Boobies and opportunity to get in the water) and all the beloved sites of Espíritu Santo. This natural wonder is such a gift to have access to, and cruising over the most beautiful waters in the world you'll be in awe of the wildlife and geological formations that inspire so many to make the journey to La Paz. We were able to stop by a turtle residence (not sure how else to describe it) and watched them submerge for air in a sweet silence, drifting witht the engine off to take in the beauty of the bay. For those who get to visit the sea lions if the season is right: Naturally, the sea lions are a fan favorite because they are *adorable*. For those new to sea outings with wildlife, you get to make the call on getting in the water or not. My first sea lion outing was in January 2024; the water was cold and it was overstimulating for me-- having a wetsuit, snorkel, mask and flotation vest (required). It takes practice for some of us to get used to all these implements, so don't be discouraged. Know your limitations and know that you can get in and out as you feel comfortable with. The sea lions are safe to swim with, follow your nature guide and listen to instructions on how to allow them their space. Sitting perched in the boat, you will have plenty of opportunity to observe them, listen to their calls and noises and watch them play in the water. Regardless of where you are in terms of the day, soaking up the sun, wind and sights is a magnificent experience. Always always bring plenty of sun protection, a hat that will stay secure in the wind, long sleeves, pants, and coat your whole body in waterproof SPF before leaving for the excursion. You will be exposed to the Sun via direct light or from reflection on the water, even under the canopy. Stay hydrated -- people often drink on the boat for these occasions, just remember you are in the desert. The grand finale is ceviche on the most beautiful, remote beach. A large umbrella is provided, and a beach blanket. Our group had the time to snorkel out into the bay and see sting rays and reef fish accessible from a short distance, but you can always relax or just walk the shoreline. This is a physical journey and our group took care of each other with getting in and out of the boat, and Alex will always see that everyone is safe and assist anyone in need. Being able to climb in and out of the boat, up and down a ladder, and to navigate boat turbulence is necessary to be able to enjoy yourself. It is a full day trip, leaving at 9 and returning around 5pm so having what you need to make your day comfortable and expecting to be in the sun will make the experience so much more pleasant. Dramamine trick for sensitive folks: Take one the night before, the morning of, and optionally another when you are on the boat. I would rather be a little sleepy and relaxed than nauseous. I look forward to my next excursion with Alex and Baja Reef Adventures -- he's shared with me that he offers diving (free-diving and scuba) as well, and I felt so safe and comfortable with him as a guide and tour leader. Highly recommend.

We spent a wonderful day on Isla Espíritu Santo with Baja Reef Adventures. Our Captain Alex was very nice, very attentive and knowledgeable. We could explore some hidden gems from the island and, cherry on the cake, we had a delicious ceviche on one of the most beautiful beaches around. What more could you ask for?!?

This was easily a highlight of my trip! Our very capable captain, Alex, is charming and knowledgeable . I learned so much about the history, marine wildlife and culture of the area. Alex is fluent in English too. I felt safe at all times. There is ample shade on the boat. We enjoyed a delightful picnic on a secluded white sand beach with crystal clear water. This adventure is a fabulous way to capture the beauty of the coastline and the Sea of Cortez. A big bonus is relief from the heat. I highly recommend this tour company!

Baja Reef Adventures came highly recommended by friends and lived up to the hype. It was super easy to make the reservation and instructions for day of were clear. After spending the morning exploring the Sea of Cortez by boat, Alex set up a beautiful beach picnic for us at Balandra (ceviche verde is 10/10). We enjoyed crystal clear waters and incredible mountain vistas. We cannot wait to come back and will be booking with Baja Reef again 👍🏼
