Starting from Funchal trought Câmara de Lobos, on our way to Ribeira Brava we are going to travel trougth the old roads.
Ponta Do Sol
We start in the southwestern coast , and have a stop for a drink, after we will continue our way up until the plateau to 1500m altitude were we will be above the clouds.

5.00Miguel picked us up from ship and drove an adventurous ride by jeep partly through adventurous paths. It was fun. Of course, we also saw highlights. He recommended restaurant and we felt we ate the best food of our lives. Black fish with baked banana in a sauce. Delicious, thank you.

3.00Our guide John was very nice and competent. But: Madeira contact Miguel is planning badly. Promised dt guide was changed a day before in English, promised car was changed and pick-up point was also changed and not communicated. We had to search for the organizer via internet, there was no phone number for problems. Conclusion: Viator Madeira not recommended but guide was very nice

5.00Our tour guide was João (John) and he was perfect. So full of life and good cheer. He asked if there was anything we wanted to do at the start and then took us round the north and west up some 45% incline roads and the old back roads which was great fun. He taught us so much about the island. Totally enjoyed the experience and it was really all thanks to him. Thanks so much João. Keep smiling and enjoying ponchas 😄

5.00Well paced trip around the south west and north of the island with an enthusiastic guide. John is passionate about his country and a fun guide with a mischievous sense of humour. He maintained great energy, and was lively, engaging and fun the whole day. We learnt about the island, had fun off roading in the forest and visited interesting places and had a super lunch. I think the guide makes or breaks these trips, and top marks to John, who certainly made our day great fun.

5.00This tour was absolutely fantastic. We were in Madeira for a one day port stop. We had wanted to do a 4WD tour and booked this tour through Viator. The reviews were great but even those didn’t prepare us for the magic of this island. My wife and I had a private tour. Our guide Miguel owns a small fleet of 4WD vehicles and we were lucky enough to have him as our guide. His knowledge and love of this little island were contagious. It’s obvious that he loves what he is doing. We toured the islands west and north shores. We drove off the beaten path several times but never felt unsafe with Miguel at the wheel. He took us to hills above the clouds and then had lunch in the village of Porto Moniz. After lunch we drove along the north shore with cliffs and waterfalls that reminded me of Kauai. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed this tour. I would give it six stars if I could.

5.00This Jeep tour was absolutely incredible — a must for anyone visiting Madeira! Our guide, John, was outstanding. Having grown up on the island, his deep knowledge and love for Madeira really showed throughout the day. He gave us a unique, personal experience that went far beyond the typical tourist routes. Even at the popular spots like Fanal Forest, he took us to hidden local viewpoints that were far less crowded and offered even better views. If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to explore the island and learn about its history, nature, and culture, this is the tour to book. Highly, highly recommend!

5.00Amazing experience - definitely a highlight of our trip! Our driver, Miguel, was fantastic. We weren’t sure exactly what we wanted to do, so we just told him where we’d been so far, and he took it from there, putting together a great itinerary highlighting the most scenic spots on the west and north side of the island while taking us down some back/off-road parts as well. Only regret is not booking a two day version as there’s so much to see! Would definitely recommend!
