The cooking class "Japanese Tonkatsu-Curry" with Morimi was a very great and memorable experience. After we entered Morimi's home, she invited us to make ourselves at home and we felt like at home the whole time we spent in her kitchen. We learned step-by-step and with hands-on how to prepare all the dishes, Every dish was delicious: the pork cutlets, curry, the shrimps, the fried and grilled vegetables and the potato salad. We appreciated a lot the idea to compare the curry prepare ourselves compared to the one with ingredients from a grocery as well as the tasting of the potato salat prepared in a vegetarian and non vegetarian mode. It was exactly the right choice because it is very easy to prepare all the dishes at home in Switzerland where all ingredients are available.

In Morimi's class, we can learn variety of cooking. She usually chooses seasonal ingredients,so you can enjoy a sense of the season every time you cook. And she also teaches us how to get and keep ingredients. Many of the recipes are easy to make at home even after the lesson, so please come and join a class!

This cooking class has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere! Morimi-san teaches a wide range of dishes — mostly Japanese, but also French, Chinese, and other cuisines. The recipes don’t require any special ingredients or equipment, so you can easily recreate them at home. What makes the class extra special is that Morimi-san doesn’t just teach recipes — she also shares lots of useful cooking tips and nutritional insights. If you’re living in Japan, it’s a great way to expand your everyday cooking repertoire. And if you’re visiting, you’ll be able to take home the skills to make delicious Japanese dishes wherever you are.

If you’re reading these reviews because you’re on the fence about this class, book it!! You’ll be glad you did! Mori is a wonderful teacher and host - I highly recommend this experience! I chose the tofu class with sweets, and we made a wide variety of delicious dishes - it was even more recipes than I was expecting, which was exciting! During the class, Mori taught me various valuable tricks and techniques that I would not have known otherwise. Mori’s directions are easy to follow and all the recipes are included in a packet to take home. After taking the class, I feel fully confident that I will be able to make these recipes at home! The recipes are not overly complicated or time-consuming, but the flavors are delicious. I can even use them for easy weeknight meals and lunches. After making our meal, we ate together. Mori taught me a few Japanese words and phrases, including a special phrase that is said before eating a meal in Japan: Itadakimasu - an expression of gratitude for the food and respect for the efforts involved in preparing it. I also learned about some of the cookware, ingredients, and utensils commonly used in Japanese cooking. I really appreciated learning these tidbits about Japanese customs and lifestyle. (Note: the recipes in class can be reproduced without buying any special cookware!) All in all, this was a wonderful experience. Arigato gozaimasu, Mori!

I found Morimi’s Home Kitchen online and was so excited to learn some Japanese cooking as a birthday activity while travelling through Japan with my husband. I selected the Tofu course as I wanted to learn as many recipes as possible, and also selected Sake and mochi as a birthday treat. From the get go, communication was easy and accessible. Morimi has worked hard on her English skills and we had no troubles in chatting with her through the cooking class. Her website is clear and accurate – what you pay for is what you get (and it’s pretty great!!!). It was also really helpful that she offered to collect us from the nearest train station. Morimi’s home was so welcoming and wonderful. We donned our aprons and got to work quickly – she’s got the craziest stove I have ever seen and I want one in my home in Australia! Morimi had printed out recipe and other relevant information which was easy to understand and presented in a way that I will be using these recipes for years to come. Every step of the way, I understood what was happening and learnt some new techniques for creating delicious Japanese food. I was also able to take photos of all the labels so I can search for items in my local Asian grocers. By the end, it felt like we were hanging out with a friend as we ate our wonderful, multi-plate meal. And it was all SO delicious too! Would highly recommend anyone interested in Japanese cooking take classes with Morimi. I know I am looking forward to recreating these meals now that we are home and sharing with friends. Thanks again for a wonderful birthday lunch! - Emma and Jerod.
